I am not gonna lie I was one of those people who said San Antonio Spurs will be better this year thanks to the trade but apparently I was wrong as well. Of course, we are still early in the season and there are still a lot of games to be played but they do not look better after the trade.

I believed they would be much better because they traded Kawhi who played only 9 games last year and got Derozan who is a star in return, considering a 9 game Kawhi wouldn't make a difference compared to a star that will play a lot of games I believed they will be much better this year.

However, Derozan is basically playing all by himself this year, Lamarcus is good one game and bad another and incredibly inconsistent, Rudy gay scores a lot one game and sucks another game, Dante Cunningham is not a starter caliber player at all and all the injuries they have really crippled them. They were suppose to be really good this year after they got rid of a locker room trouble but not doing as well as hoped.

I expected the reverse of what you expected. I know that the trade of Kawhi to DeRozan is not a good move for them. Now they are not on the top of the standings. Their current roster is weaker compare to the season where Kawhi is playing with Manu who is retired already and TP9 who is on the Hornets right now (biggest mistake for them I think).

If you will see their roster, only DeRozan is the all star player there. Yeah Aldridge is a good player and also Rudy Gay but as I said, they are weaker now. Now the Raptors with Kawhi are lot stronger now. They are excelling in defense right now and in offense, they put Siakam on the offense and he is the one who is scoring to the team along with Ibaka and other players.

I realize spurs lost Tony and Manu and Kawhi and Green. However, lets face the realities. First of all tony wasn't that much of an impact aside from his leadership, dude was getting older in a league full of fast paced point guards and making it really difficult for him to defend them. Dejounte Murray became the starter last year even when tony was in the team, so I assume having Dejounte injured is a bigger impact for spurs.

Secondly Derozan is clearly much better compared to green since he is a much better scorer and maybe not as good as defender as him but he makes that difference in offense. Rudy gay is a great small forward but nowhere near Kawhi level however considering the difference between green and Derozan it is clear that the difference between gay and Kawhi may not be that much, or could be I don't know.

The most important part is Lamarcus is easily the best power forward in the league when he is playing with other power forwards that are smaller but now he is playing at center and that makes it harder for him to score. So with Dejounte back and a proper center they can be beast again.

The Nuggets just crushed the Lakers 117-85. Lebron scored just 14 pts and Kuzma scored 21. 6 players from Nuggets have double figure in points. Now the Cavs-turn-Lakers fans are now crying because their team lost again.

Good win for the Raptors on the road against the Grizzlies 122-114. They are down 12 on the first half but they come out strong on the second half draining their threes that helped them to gain their 17th win. 6 players are in double figures too.

The spurs are obviously in  rebuilding stage after their big three era and a lot of people thought they'll do it around kawhi which didn't happen. I'm a fan of how pop runs his team and there will be a time for them to show their potential. Wait for it.

I know Lamarcus Aldridge is getting older and Pau Gasol will be gone soon however check their young roster. Dejounte is injured and not going to be playing this year, derrick white is doing great, Lonnie will be a great raw defensive talent (his offense will be at the hands of chip England which is as good as it gets) and they have Poeltl at the center position, which means Derozan has at least 5 more years with a great young talented team and they will be amazing in the future. However spurs has never been a "great one day" they have always been "I can't believe they managed to get to playoffs with this team". Lets hope they can manage to pull of a couple win streak (since its still early) and stay on playoff and keep the streak alive and after that it should be easier to dominate the future west with the young guns.

Enough of Spurs issue now. Players there already know what to do rather than ours. Wait until All-Star break for what will be the status of the team and somehow from there we can fairly speculate what will happened to them this season.

Once again, the cavaliers are terrible without Lebron James.  Put Lebron on any team and they instantly become a title contender.  His style of play can mesh with any player unlike Kobe.  It's funny that kobe was considered a ballhog that only plays for himself because Lebron James actually has a higher career scoring average.  (27 ppg)

Somehow I think of Lebron as a leader and that is why he can drag this players up to the Finals.
Giving people courage and confidence is not a skill, it is like an inner ability that cannot be trained by any trainors.

This is also one of the reasons why people are bashing him to be just the coach of Cleveland before because he is like that.
Leadership. Once you master it and know how to give confidence to others could really pull them to a higher level.

I wouldn't say that they're the underdogs in the Eastern Conference. In fact, when Leonard moved to Toronto, their chances on getting to finals increases by 10 folds. We all know that Leonard was a elite athlete and we already seeing the impact of his arrival as they sit on top of the Eastern Conference. I was bit of disappointed though on Celtics because for me they are of the favorites together with Sixers and but I guess Milwaukee is now the surprise underdogs.

They are the favorites in the East, they can beat the Celtics and the Sixers IMO.
We all have our own prediction and analysis but one thing is only sure in the East now, it's more exciting compared to the past season where Lebron

Toronto seems like the only contender right now if you ask me. They have been playing amazingly and they have people with playoff experience as well, they are lacking some veteran presence from the bench as far as I can remember but aside from that they look like they will be in the finals for sure. Boston Celtics have a great team and they are literally the prototype for 2020+ NBA basketball and with enough experience under their belt that team will be dominating east for years unless some unexpected thing happens however they lack a lot of confidence for now and look like they are not as good as they were last year.

Sixers look like the only other option and I assume they will be east conference finalists this year unless they face toronto early and I think they have a shot at the finals too but they lack experience so they may get beaten because of that. Toronto is the only team with a magnificent superstar who has seen finals (and even won FMVP) and really saw what playoffs is like and can bring it on when needed.

As a Minnesota Timberwolves fan I am very satisfied with the results against the Spurs. We rarely see a dominant games like this being performed the team a 128-89 game shows us that the team is capable of winning big gaps compared to when we have Jimmy Butler where we rely on hos game winning shots often. The biggest margin in the game that the Wolves has given is 39 points which was really unbelievable for me. One annoying thing to keep in mind is Thibs is still not using the bench even if the lead was big there is really no point on using your starters if you know that the opponent won't catch up.

Since you are talking about "Eastern Conference", no they aren't underdog and no one honestly thinks about it. Since LeBron is now out on the East, (If you remember, LeBron is the kryptonite of this team. They never passed LeBron during all their playoff series) chances of making to the East finals is quiet possible for them and that chances will increase more if Kawhi Leonard will able to play at his full health throughout the season.

And no one is mentioning the Milwaukee Bucks as one of the current best teams in the East. Their improvement can be seen this season. They able to give Boston Celtics a difficult path going to ECF last playoffs and looks like they can be like that again if they will reached the playoffs. Sixers, Celtics, Raptors and Bucks maybe the current face of the East today but Im following the Detroit Pistons too.
