https://www.si.com/nba/2019/03/30/lebron-james-sit-out-remainder-lakers-season-groin-injury

Lakers management has decided to sit James for the rest of the season.

I think this is good move, why take the risk when they are already out of the playoffs.  Warriors vent out against Charlotte, winning a whopping 47 point spread, 137 - 90.
Resting Lebron wouldn't change anything as they knew that they are already out of this season, no need to risk him for a possible injuries to happen,
better to have him in a good shape next season and adjust if how they can manage to comes up much stronger.
A wise decision that they have made.It is just pointless to exert too much effort yet they are already out on the playoffs but expect on the outcome on next 5 games wont really be that good without him.

With or without him the Lakers has no chance against any team their are playing against in next 5 games because we are talking about Oklahoma, Warriors, Clippers, Utah and Portland. All of them are playoff teams and all are fighting for a better spot so Lakers should be an easy target for them.

Lakers already out of the playoff picture, they don't have a chance of course,  and even if they win.
There is no assurance that good teams are always winning, did you see the Mevericks routing the Warriors at their own home court? That explains. Smiley

Right now that playoffs is coming, team are more critical on getting wins especially those teams with a chance to get into the berth. Win is a must for them and teams like warriors who is already on top for the playoffs will play not their a-games to avoid injuries.

This is the exciting part of the season, games are more tighter because the playoffs is coming.
Getting in the playoffs gives them chance, though they will be in the lowest standing like in the last spot, but it's possible to upset those who are in the top.

It's really a tough decision betting right now, as you mentioned those teams who already have a comfortable position will be unpredictable, coaches can bench star players to avoid injuries and to rest them so they can have a good medical and physical conditions coming this playoffs, some might also be playing with their ranks intentionally to face much comfortable teams.

Yes, that is my point. They have investment big money on Lebron, that's why they need to take care of him. I'm not sure if mathematically they have a chance to reach the playoff, but it's too big a risk on their part that's why it's better for them to sit him for the last remaining games and come out fresh and healthy next season.

It is my thoughts too.  Why not live him to rest and gathering more energy for the next season.  It is almost impossible for them to win this season and it will a great risk for them if he is injure in the match.

And that is what the Lakers organization's intention in the first place. And the good thing is that Lebron agreed upon already. Maybe it's hard decision for him not to play, but in the long run if will benefited him. Maybe when the Lakers management saw what happened to Nurkic, they said, "oh well, we don't want that to see that happen to Lebron at the end of this regular" season.

And they may rest some of their star players just like what coach POP used to do with his players like Tim, Manu and Parker. I missed the time where Michael Jordan always bringing his A-game every time he plays. He always entertained the fans who spent money just to watch him not like these days where they rest their star players at the tail of the regular season.

Times change dude and yeah, teams and players then used to leave everything out in the court regardless of what stage it is in the season. Now teams are even tanking just to get a better chance of landing a top rookie the next season. The kind of play, the players and coaches' outlook towards the game and how they strategize have changed quite a lot.

I agree that this is too much underestimation. NBA is where truly amazing happens. Even though an underdog could beat someone that is bigger than them. Just remember when LeBron isn't a Laker yet, they have the same kind of W - L last season. And that was just a show from the youngcore.

Even though the Lakers had a bad season they still made the right business decision to bring in Lebron.  LBJ has generated a lot of merchandise sales, tv coverage, and mega hype around the city.  Sometimes its not about just winning, remember that the NBA is a business.

Correct.
One of their priorities now.

They are making a lot of stars for that. Also scattering on other teams and not like a Miami Heat again.
They need to pull more people watching live and also more tv commercials and advertisement to pay for that huge salaries of players.

Whenever I see a bad trade I dont really look at it as a "fan" perspective. Be like a businessman and you will understand it.

If Lebron is not fit enough, then he should not play. Just because he brings in the revenue, a better player can't be replaced by him. In the end, money matters. If the amount he brings in weighs more than the cost, then I don't have any problem.

Anyway... I am glad that his season is over.

Good job from Mavericks defeating the Thunder without Luka.
Talking about Luka, he's undoubtedly a sensational rookie. Im just too concerned if he could keep the pace for the ROTY against Trae Young. I mean Trae has been consistently becoming a monster in the NBA while he's still on his rookie year. While, Luka has been struggling in terms of 3 point fg percentage.
I would really love to see Luka win the ROTY.
The kid's still young so don't be too quick on his struggle with 3-pter.

Nope, I didnt criticize him for shooting a low percentage 3 pt attempts in the long run. What I was trying to point out is how he would handle the tight competition to win the ROTY award (Rookie Of The Year) against Trae Young this year. Of course, I know he still have all the time to improve that area.

The word struggle only applies to those who does not contribute to the team, Luka has become a main man of the team on his rookie year and that is a lot of responsibility of the young player like him, but he was able to embrace his rule and give his best, that's why many loves him.

I have no doubt if he can win the Rookie of the year this season.

That's right, his impact for the entire franchise give him a heavy lift for his rookie days, same a like with Giannis where the entire Bucks believes
in what he can deliver, Luka will mature for sure and with more motivations and the entire teams support for him, they will be able to bring back
the glory days for the Mavs, allow him to grow and matured naturally as we can't contest his talents and skills in terms of playing the game.

I agree. In totality, Lebron bring so much in that city not just NBA fans watching his game. That's why they really needed to protect their merchandise here that's why I said it's a good move on their part not to take that big risk playing him in the remainder of the games.
