Doncic is giving his best all the time. He performed amazingly during the playoffs as well. Him and Irving were a really great duo too unlike my worries. However I can't also say Irving was good enough in the final series.  Sad

Source: https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/kyrie-irving-finals-stats

Look at these statistics. Mostly not good enough. He needed to score way more points than this to keep up with Doncic to help his team more. You are qualifying for NBA finals after 7 years but you are performing this poorly. I think it is unacceptable.  Sad

Congrats to Celtics! It has been a long time since they won a championship the last time.

I agree with you, there are players who get paid more to sit on the bench, I don't think the money paid to coaches is too much, but it seems a bit of a problem to send coaches away immediately because they can't build the team the way they want. Coaches should be given at least one year.
And the franchise isn't maximizing those players on the bench during the crucial games on the playoffs. That's why they have to secure themselves with better bench players and not just gonna sit there and will receive salary without sweating.

On the side of these bench players, they earn a lot by doing nothing but they want to have some playing time as well.

Anyway, going with the Dallas Mavericks. I've heard that Mark Cuban is no longer the one that will manage the basketball affairs of the team.

Since he has sold his stake, Mark Cuban is like a de-factor owner and we can still see that he is on the games of Dallas for support and maybe for a smooth transition. And I do agree that they didn't maximized their bench against the Celtics, Jason Kidd could have put more players in the rotation.

But overall though, it might not makes any difference at all because the Celtics is like a well oiled machine. They have been together longer, and they added KP and Holiday and was able to fit in perfectly in Joe Mazzulla's system.

That's the agreement, he still has few shares left and he controls the affairs of the team. Meaning, he will decide for the team and I think he is doing a great job. though they fail in the NBA finals, it's still impressive as they are new to this stage but I'm sure they had learn a lot from their loss and they'll come back with a better team. Kyrie and Luka, or maybe they'll create their own big 3.

What if Durant will join them? I think that's gonna be a real strong team.

In fact, it's good to see that the NBA has begun to value coaches more and offer them higher salaries than they used to. In Monty's case, this is certainly too much, considering the poor results that the team has achieved under his coaching. However, it's worth noting that there are also many players in the NBA who get multi-million dollar salaries while sitting on the bench for most of the season.

Exactly, And this is the main reason too why coaches can be kick out immediately with very poor performance even them the team itself is thrash. Piston is a great example for this while the management think that coaches can miraculously increase this player potential to star level.

The expectation is so high on coaches nowadays that’s why we might frequently see a coach change every year despite the handsome payment since team keeps testing the water until they find a suitable that will make an improvement to a garbage team.

So yeah, worthy every penny for coaches payment.

Coaches should have a big salary as they have a very important job, and it's true that they could be kicked out anytime based on their agreement. Also, when a coach is hired because of a good performance with his previous team, it doesn't mean his new team will also become a good team immediately. It's a process, but sometimes management doesn't want to invest in that long process, so they'll just find a replacement.

One team I've seen improve last season under a new coach is the Rockets. We know that Coach Udoka came from Boston but parted ways with the team as he broke the rules. However, look at how much the Rockets improved last season. Maybe next season they'll come back even stronger than expected.

The Celtics dominated the NBA from start to finish this season and crushed their opponents in the playoffs. However, the Celtics have always scared their fans with their misfortunes in the past years, but they finally became champions and the curse on the team was lifted. I also think the Celtics had the easiest championship in recent years. They have only three losses in the playoffs. They have become a near perfect system team and they have a very good roster. If they manage to maintain that and add to the current roster, they will be the strongest contenders for the championship next season.

That had always been the problem with winning teams, they cannot consistently maintain their roster and I won't blame the players and coaches for that, it's all about the management which could sometimes make some wrong decisions.
I bet they will make some trades but Derrick White and Jrue Holiday will probably stay. But we don't know if Boston Celtics owner Wyc Grousbeck could still pay for the luxury tax the next season. $41 million dollars. That's a lot of money and I hope he is getting all that back after being champions of the 2024 NBA Finals.
But they are paying way too much just to get this championship caliber of a roster.
$49.3M - Jaylen Brown
$34.8M - Jayson Tatum
$30M - Jrue Holiday
$29.2M - Kristaps Porzingis
$20.0M - Derrick White
$9M - Al Horford.
https://www.spotrac.com/nba/boston-celtics/cap/_/year/2024

Just that will make you realize that this is really a team that was built to take the beating and also beat players down and I am sure glad they are the champions but we should not expect they can keep that roster in the next years to come. Too expensive.

Yeah right, not unless the management is willing to embrace that taxes and avail the current roster to continue playing for them, just like what you said its all about how the management will play their cards after winning the title, it's a expensive squad that they produce though the players and coaches who work alongside with each other really provide the outcome that the management was expecting we don't know if they will keep them all or they need to let someone go to cut their expenses.

To be fair, Luka may fail next season too, sometimes teams do not do well for a while before they win it. Look at this Boston team, they reached eastern conference finals SOOOO long ago, and been to finals after that, and yet this is their first win since 08 I think. So that shows that we are talking about taking some time before they could be any good, and this could be the same situation for them as well.

I believe that they should just realize that Dallas is a "young" team, or at least Luka is young, Kyrie is not. It may take a while for Luka to establish himself enough to win a title, and wouldn't be really end of the world if he ends up with zero rings by the end of his career, or just chase rings at good teams.

I just read one of those ridiculous click bait stories on Facebook but it was interesting enough to repeat here. The article claims the Minnesota Timberwolves are looking into drafting Bronny James in order to get LeBron to join the team and help them win a championship. As insane as this sounds, it seems not only possible, but also like it would be James’ best chance at winning a final ring.

If they are going to get both Bronny and LeBron James, they might also have to give up some key pieces of their current Identity, and I'm sure one of Gobert or Towns might have to be traded, maybe Gobert gets traded and Towns converted to a Center, since he's also a good shooter.

Speaking of the Lakers, it's been reported by ESPN that JJ Redick and the Lakers have agreed on a 4 year to deal, for Redick to take over the Coaching Job of the Lakers, I don't if that could be enough reason for LeBron to stay on the Lakers roster.

There’s been lots of talk about moving KAT this offseason. While I think that is a mistake, it’s a possibility. However, the JJ Redick move you just announced seems to be hinting that LeBron isn’t going anywhere. They literally just hired his podcast co-host to be his new head coach…

IIRC, that was a condition that after he sold majority of his stake. He can still manage the basketball affairs of the team. But this time, even with that condition, he just let it go and resigned.

I guess that it's just really for the Celtics then. KP was there with the Dallas two years ago and then moved to the Wizards and then with the Celtics, so it's fate at all for him.

And the same goes for Jrue Holiday. Let's just give it to them and that's a well deserved ring for all of the Celtics staff and roster.

Well, welcome to his new team. He might get lesser playing time there.

Damn, this is the trade that I didn't expect, It could be that Josh Giddey's performance in the last playoff which is for me just so-so? Or most likely the allegations haunting him? https://www.oklahomalegalgroup.com/news/allegations-against-okc-thunders-josh-giddey-raise-intrigue-regarding-age-of-consent

And so it was reported that the Lakers have hired JJ Redick as their next head coach,

https://x.com/wojespn/status/1803866324730331335

So let's see if Redick can live up to the hype or will be another casualties regarding coaches lately.

I can see the angle for okc trading for Caruso to get a defensive stopper in theor backcourt to pair with SGA but I think in terms of skillet it was a little early to sell on giddy.  I have to think they know a little more than everyone else on the allegations aimed at him.  Dude can really ball and helps out not only in the assist area but rebounds and points.  For me this is an odd trade.  Something else is going on we don't know about.

I agree this was a good trade for the Thunder.  Not sure what Chicago gets out of the deal.  Josh Giddey shouldn't even be in the NBA after his relationship with an underaged girl was exposed.  I'm surprised they still managed to fleece the Bulls given how bad the Giddey situation will be for whoever has him.

LeBron James is rumored to be about to sign a 3-year 162 million dollar contract.  That's wild at his age.  I think we may have reached the point where LeBron is a liability for his team.  This year was fine and maybe next year will be as well, but you can't tell me that LeBron will still be worth $50,000,000+ per year in the 2026-2027 season.  Not saying he hasn't already earned that money, just saying the salary cap is going to keep him from winning another championship.

Just that will make you realize that this is really a team that was built to take the beating and also beat players down and I am sure glad they are the champions but we should not expect they can keep that roster in the next years to come. Too expensive.
I have nothing against expensive teams if that means a title to them. Just look at the Warriors and how much they've paid their players last season. Or the Suns who are now in trouble because next season, they will be paying their big 3 close to $150 Million.

As for the Celtics, they still have another year in their contract, and I don't think they will make some huge changes in their roster. The Nuggets when they won didn't make some huge adjustments although the Bruce Brown trade affected especially on their defense. The Celtics have many good defenders, and changing some role players will not hurt them that much.

The Bulls traded Alex Caruso for Josh Giddey.

I think Oklahoma Thunders is on the win with this trade. They get that veteran Alex Caruso and they let go of Giddey. Was this the kid that have trashtalked against the Mavs?

Well, welcome to his new team. He might get lesser playing time there.
Caruso has been known for his defensive skills, and Giddey has been known for... if you know what I mean then don't say it here. Cheesy

Anyway, it's the Thunder who won on this trade because aside from Lu Dort, they also have Alex Caruso that will help him in defending the opposing team's backcourts. Lesser playing time? Maybe, but he might still be a starter at least. SGA at 1, Caruso at 2, Dort at 3, JDub at 4, Chet at 5. This is an improvement for the team, and with how many draft picks they have right now, expect more of these trades in the future.

Damn, this is the trade that I didn't expect, It could be that Josh Giddey's performance in the last playoff which is for me just so-so? Or most likely the allegations haunting him? https://www.oklahomalegalgroup.com/news/allegations-against-okc-thunders-josh-giddey-raise-intrigue-regarding-age-of-consent

I quite agree with about maybe it's quite too early to trade Josh Giddey, but they would also have to give up someone quite of perceived value to be able to get veteran like that of Caruso, and what he offers defensively something the youngest team in the league needs, I'd say. And as we might have seen in the playoffs, Giddey might be currently surplus to requirements, given the new approach and the plethora of options OKC already have offensively, that are not even getting quality minutes yet, Isaiah Joe, Aaron Wiggins and Casson Wallace are all worthy mentions, so to give up Giddey whose minutes have dropped drastically to get an elite defender while Giddey is still considered a great asset in the league might not be the worse idea, in my honest opinion.
