His numbers are good, but honestly I still don't trust this guy, I dont think he has shown enough leadership yet. Anyone getting that kind of contract should already be battle tested, but this guy isnt there yet. Of course its their money, and they probably evaluated everything carefully before making that decision, but just like you, I'm still not convinced it was the right move.

What they are looking for is a defender and he is fit for the job even though he will not score a lot but the defense that the cavaliers that is lacking is where he is going to fill the void, the cavs is now running out of time, they have sign players extension that should not be,  i might say they over paid harden and mitchell they can't carry the team, and they are always disappear in the playoffs this is why harden is traded, clippers has dodge the bullet while the cavs accept or received it.

Remains to be seen, but when he was with the Nuggets, he looks like a polished 2 way player and I thought that they are going to keep him and Aaron Gordon going to mentor him. But they still have Cam Johnson or even Christian Braun and so they decided to trade him.

However, they didn't get anything out of the trade and that is the odd thing. They just drop him like that and just accept that they are going to risk and gamble on the future draft picks that they exchange him for.

There's one reason why the Nuggets didn't pursue Watson. They're already on the 2nd apron, and even though they didn't get him, they're still on the 2nd apron unfortunately. What the Thunder did with the Nuggets is just harsh because they tried to get Spencer Jones, but they matched his salary and that pushed them beyond the 1st apron. I can't blame the Nuggets though if they only got a 2nd rounder because like what I said, they're already on the 2nd apron.

As for Watson's price, I mean he's young, talented, and his contribution on the court can't be seen on his stats because he's the Nuggets' best defender back then, and for me, it's too early to tell if that 4-year $88M will be worth it or not. He's a 3-and-D type of player and many teams wants those type of players. Just for context, he shot 41% from the 3-pt area last season. Let's see if he will shine in Cleveland especially now that he's their starting Small Forward. As for the Nuggets, they've made 2 big mistakes to put them to where they at right now. It's a mistake that they gave Murray that contract that he has right now and it's a big, big mistake that they gave a role player like Zeke Nnaji his current contract right now.

Overall, we don't know how will Watson play in Cleveland. Who knows? He might be a defensive-player of the year candidate there, or he'll become a bust.

It seems changing teams has not really helped Mitchell that much, maybe he is just not destined to become a champion. Even now that he is surrounded by talented players and they have good big men, they still keep falling short. Now with Harden there, Mitchell also looks a bit unstable at times because Harden can take over when he is struggling, but Harden is not getting any younger and he is already past his prime, so honestly I don't know what to expect from the Cavaliers anymore.

But if ever there will be a trade, I think that Harden should go first as again, he doesn't seem to blend in any team that has another superstar. His character is more of a guy that wanted to carry a team just like in his prime with Houston.

He is also a good passer, and he has learned how to adjust to the teams he plays for, but he's not the same player anymore. Since it's not as easy for him to get fouls like before, his production has really dropped.

I am absolutely shocked at what I just read.  Mitchell is one of the most elite playoff performers in the NBA.  He's extremely undersized at his position and his ability to shift to another gear in big games is what makes him valuable in my opinion.  I've never heard anyone say Mitchell chokes in the playoffs.  His performance against Denver a few years ago was one of the best playoff performances I've ever seen.  You can call Mitchell a weak defender or say he's too small to be in the NBA.  Not a playoff choker though.  I don't buy that for a second.

They got blow out their 22 lead on fourth quarter and got defeated by Knicks at that time. Imagine how the momentum change at that time and many conclude immediately even if its so early, that Knicks will go to finals then this situation actually happen.

But so far its good that they made a changes and try to improve their team.

They were swept by the eventual champion New York Knicks in the playoff. Not even a single game win from a so called elite scorer. And it was not just a lost, but the Knicks won big numbers. Maybe we can go back in 2020 against the Nuggets. The Jazz lead by Mitchell 3-1 against Jokic if I'm not mistaken. But they simply collapse during the bubble.

So two chokers, together with James Harden, who sign a new contract and he is one of those who had $500 million contract already should show something this year with that huge contract he had with the Cavs.

I don’t know if it would be good or not. They’re both pretty slow. They might not compliment each other. If they did, they’d probably only have 1 or 2 good years before Jokic gets too old to move well. As a big guy, his career won’t last as long as the other stars. Luka needs a lob threat anyway.

I don't think the lakers will be able to afford both of them, if they are going for Jokic they need to clear up the space for him that means they need to let go important pieces just to acquire him, but not impossible if the lakers really do want him.

Maybe the Lakers can afford it with the new owner, but they will have to over the salary cap and could pay penalties for it. But I don't like them in Lakers, I do agree with Og that both are slow so the combo might not be good in the long run.

And both are good passers so it might also affect the numbers if both of them are playing at the same time. Although you have the luxury of having 2 close out players in the league right now and it could matter during the playoffs.

Given that the upcoming regular season is the last one guaranteed under Jokic’s contract (the next one is a player option), I think there will be plenty more rumors and speculation about whether Jokic will stay with the Nuggets or not.
As for a potential Jokic-Luka duo, again, on paper it looks very promising, but in reality, I don’t think it will work out.

Why do you think it won't work? Jokic is a very good team player and a willing passer, and remember his answer after they won the championship, he just wanted to go home. His attitude is not really about wanting to be the star of the team. And since he and Luka are already friends, I don't think chemistry would be a big problem either. For me, I think it can actually work.
