I didn't even include the Celtics in the top 5 just because of how awful that trade is... at least on paper. As for the Heat, I don't see them winning the title. I've said in the past that their bench isn't one of the best. Can I ask you? With the roster of the Heat right now, do you see them as a title contender alongside the Thunder, Spurs and Knicks?  Wink

I think that is the keyword here, everything is one paper until we see them play. Specially Miami with Klay on there already. For their bench they have Bobby Portis and Jovic in I'm not mistaken, and some role players.

So that could be the plan and it's the formula for winning a ring. Not only star players like Giannis or Bam or even Klay. It will have a complete roster from the bench as well. We have seen this in the last champion in Knicks wherein there are players like Shamet or Clarkson to provide some spark. Let's see if Portis or anyone from the Miami Heat's bench can give it to them day in day out.
I have high hopes for the Miami Heat next season because this is by far the best lineup they've had since Butler left, with Bam and Giannis inside that's already going to be a big problem for opponents, and they also have shooters around them.

Even their bigs can shoot threes, and defensively this already looks like a championship-level team to me. Hopefully Klay will also be more motivated there and we can see his three-point accuracy come back.

It's gonna be fun to watch this team next season, God forbid injuries.

About their three-point shooting, they were at 36.1%, ranked 11th, so that's not bad at all. They could probably stay around the same level, or maybe even improve with the new lineup, let's hope for that.

Even their bigs can shoot threes, and defensively this already looks like a championship-level team to me. Hopefully Klay will also be more motivated there and we can see his three-point accuracy come back.

They still have Nikola Jović and now Bobby Portis who's 3 point was high at 45.6% last season.

Yeah, Bobby Portis is a huge addition to the team, he's a versatile big man who can shoot from outside with consistency and can also create points inside without much problem.

With a new coach, I think he can improve even more, and Giannis will no longer need to carry the team that hard since he already has Bam beside him. Giannis and Bam together could be one of the best big man duos, and I can't even imagine Portis, Giannis and Bam all on the court at the same time, that would really clog the paint, so from time to time I think they should try that setup.

Yeah, good point. Instead of a small-ball lineup to make fast plays, they now have a big-men lineup that could smash their way through the rim.  Grin

The Miami Heat lineup is actually crazy and scary.
Bam, Giannis, Klay (Mavs buyout), Wiggins, Tim Hardaway, Jovic, and Portis.

They only have Davion Mitchell as the ball handler, but I think the best strategy here is to let Giannis be the handler to attack the paint and free his teammates from their defenders. Klay may be 36, but we have seen veterans do crazy things. Carter was phenomenal at shooting before he got to 40. The good part is that Klay is a shooter, so he just needs to keep on polishing that and not worry about other things.

When it comes to defense, well, Wiggins and Bam are very good at that. Chemistry-wise, Wiggins and Klay will not have a problem; Portis and Giannis won't either. Oh, and those 4 are champions. Cool!

Maybe Klay Thompson is just the lucky charm here, IIRC, Wiggins and him already won a championship with the Warriors, and now they're here trying to make another run.

I'm really optimistic about this team now, when they got Giannis everything started to look more interesting. Even if they fail next season, as long as they can at least reach the Conference Finals, that would already be a big improvement, then maybe the season after that will be championship time.

Yes, maybe we all forgot about that. Wiggins was a All Star during his time with the Warriors. It was a different Wiggins, the way he move that season. And we all know Klay is one of the best shooters we have in the league.

Excited to see how the Bam-Giannis tandem will do. If everything works out perfectly, it will be one of the best duo in the upcoming season. Both are two way, can play defense and then can explode with points. Portis bringing that energy to Miami is also one big factor that might help them get deep in the playoff.

Their goal is to be champion again, the reason Giannis moves to the heat is to win the championship, if they wont make it this year for sure Giannis will go back to drama days again, but seeing the current line up they needed to have a better supporting cast other teams have this, to be able to survive the second unit should also have an identity and be better, when they are sub and do their jobs, the sixers is the threat to them and also the knicks they need to get pass this teams.

I don't think he would be that unprofessional. If they can at least improve and make the playoffs, I guess that's already a good start.

The problem with the Bucks, and probably one reason why he left, is that the team had already become really bad, they were not even making the playoffs and they kept struggling. So maybe Giannis just lost faith in the team and no longer believed they could compete.

Tbf, Even with Klay Thompson already have a dull shooting skills but still he is putting an effort to his defense and compensate to his lack 3 point shooting accuracy.

This recent move of some team building from old star might be pretty good or pretty bad depending on what will be their chemistry as a team.  Cheesy

Klay still manage to hit some clutch so who knows if a Miami culture might bring back his previous form.

It started when they ruined their championship squad, they gave away some of their starters just to get Lillard, but that guy was injury prone and in the end the team really struggled.

For me, that was the wrong decision and now they're paying the price since Giannis already left, imagine a championship team suddenly becoming this bad. I wouldn't even be surprised if they fail to make the playoffs, and honestly saying they can still reach it already feels like an optimistic prediction.

Even if we Klay is not the same as before, but still we can see him doing good effort to contribute on other way, especially on defensive side and other plays.

At this current phase of his career, its normal for any players to experience decline. So maybe their plays and chemistry will be the deciding factors if veteran players like Klay would fit or work with their system.

Clutch shooting of Klay still there, so for sure he can help his new team. Especially if he's comfortable with the role given by his coaches to him.

I miss that Game 6 Klay, not sure if we will ever see that again because there's a reason why he's in Miami now, if he was still very useful in Dallas, they probably would have kept him. He has that reputation of being clutch, but that still remains to be seen because Klay is no longer the same player, he doesn't look like the Klay we saw when the Warriors were dominating the NBA. I think those injuries really changed him.

East is really a tough conference. If I'm going to rank it:

1. New York Knicks - defending champ
2. Sixers - LBJ and JB
3. Heat - with this new look
4. Raptors - if the Kahwi trade push thru
5. Pacers - with Hali back
6. Celtics - Paul George and Mitch Robinson

Yes, that will be ironic if Klay got his 5 ring, as he will be ahead with Curry. Just imagine Klay holding up 5 fingers and taunting Curry if they have a heated game.
With the Aspiration scandal being done, there's a high chance that the Kawhi Leonard trade will be push through before the regular season starts, and I've said it already that the Raptors will be the one team to watch in the East once he goes back there. Of course, let's not forget the defending champs as well.

No offense to what you said, but I don't see the Heat being at the top 3, and not even being a top 5 in the East. If I'll be making my own rank, this is how it will be:
1. Knicks since they're the champions.
2. Sixers if Embiid will play for the majority of the regular season.
3. Raptors just because they got Kawhi, and they still have Barnes and Barrett on the team.
4. Pacers because I believe that the Hali-Zubac combo will works perfectly for the team.
5. Pistons because they got the top seed last season, and not that much has change with the roster but only Harris being out.

Wink
Raptors before have great supporting cast and also they have siakam and also they have Ibaka, OG lowry and Freed and green , gasol that team is an anchor in defense i think, if leonard can bring them again into the finals it will be epic, i can't put the heat at the moment, they are not ready in my opinion and we need to see them healthy before we can decide, giannis should assert himself without drama to be able to bring glory back to the heat, klay still not signing so there is lot to be done.

Nothing against your "hopes" because at the end of the day, it's your opinion, but if you can lower your expectations then please do so. I might be wrong though and who knows. The Heat might even end up as top 2 or top 3... or maybe top 1? Cheesy

I would agree that this is their best roster after the Butler-era, and yes the one that's lacking for the Heat right now has been filled - shooters with the acquisition of Hardaway Jr. and Thompson. There's one problem that I'm seeing that could destroy the entire team though. INJURIES especially with Giannis who only played 30+ games last season due to an injury. Thompson played 69 games last season which is good, but not having Giannis on the lineup could become a big problem for this team. I will not be surprised if the usage rate of Giannis on this team is pretty high and might be the same as when Luka was on Dallas.

The Heat has been known to have this kind of culture where they're trying especially with the "team-first mentality", and I do hope that this kind of culture will make this team better than that of last season.

There have been many instances in the league where a team, following high-profile trades, looked great on paper and could even be near the top of the standings toward the end of the regular season. But in the playoffs, things don’t go at all as many expect. After all, what matters in the playoffs isn’t stats on paper but excellent chemistry on the court.
As for Giannis, last season was more of an exception. Personally, I wouldn’t call him an injury-prone player, considering that in previous seasons he typically averaged more than 60-70 games per season.

To be honest, I'm surprised. What I mean is, even though DeRozan is a veteran, last season he averaged no less than 18 points per game, and if the Nuggets really did sign him to a contract for just $3.9 million, even if it's only for one season, then that's a really good catch for them.
I think it's not all about the stats that they're going.
The Nuggets just seen him that he can be as good as helper to Jokic and the team.
IMO, they shouldn't traded MPJ since the three have been going around and they have a good connection.
But it's a business, and having him for one year contract is also a good and probably cheap for them.

I've said in the past that their bench isn't one of the best. Can I ask you? I think that is the keyword here, everything is one paper until we see them play. Specially Miami with Klay on there already. For their bench they have Bobby Portis and Jovic in I'm not mistaken, and some role players.

So that could be the plan and it's the formula for winning a ring. Not only star players like Giannis or Bam or even Klay. It will have a complete roster from the bench as well. We have seen this in the last champion in Knicks wherein there are players like Shamet or Clarkson to provide some spark. Let's see if Portis or anyone from the Miami Heat's bench can give it to them day in day out.

Good, I thought I was just one of those who think that they have a good chance in the first year of Giannis in the Heat. And that there will be no adjustment whatsoever because we all know that Giannis mindset is also very competitive.

Very interesting as well on how Klay will fit. Obviously, he might still have some good years inside of him and he can still shoot. Remember that Ray Allen clutch shot when he was with the Heat so hopefully there will be similar games on Klay that he can do that.

They could have but they will need to work as a team and forget other things or issue because sometimes it will distract them, could the heat be the one to stop the sixers this year? or the knicks will stop them, currently the sixers and the knicks are the team to beat this coming season and it will be tested are the sixers going to be just in paper or it will be in the actual also, that is what we need to find out who will come out of this team at the top, and who will be in the striking distance and push the team in the playoffs.

His value has dropped because his performance has dropped, that's just it. However, if he does well with the Nuggets, I'm sure he can still get a decent contract once it's time to renew. For me, one season to test him is fair enough, so the Nuggets don't have to commit to him for years right away. He's also not getting any younger and he's already past his prime, so that kind of contract is understandable.

Not only that his numbers is dropping but because there are some use that he is gambling, but that are remain rumors until now but there are shots that we expect him to make like lay-up but he miss, also during their last run the three point and and defense seems to be missing on him, unlike the year they have won the championship seems a little different but maybe because he was injured but still we expect him to play since its an important games, also they lose key players.
