Gridseed has been TOTALLY UNPROFITABLE as a SHA256 miner for a long time now. They were close to that point when first released.

They can be profitable if you have fairly low electric cost as a Litecoin (Scrypt) miner, but they're getting marginal even there unless your electric is well under 8 cents/KWH or so.

The "blades" never were designed for SHA256 mining, they don't have the power capability OR the cooling and WILL FRY FAST if you try.

The "orbs" were designed to dual-mine but the power circuitry was marginal for that.

The "Compaq" stick does not have a European maker but they do have a European reseller.

Are you sure on this?  I'm pretty sure it's made in Europe or at least assembled there.- https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1141518.0

The site from thread that sales them is - https://www.bitshopper.de/ they also have a amazon but amazon is higher priced since amazon fees.

It's a completely different design for Europe and includes free shipping to some of it and vat included.  So price is higher then US version but it is good it's available if your in Europe.

Thanks!
I am now thinking about buying or the Usb that reaches 23gh/s (8 without overcloking) or the miner that gives a hashrate of 63 gh/s.
I don´t pay for electricity and as they cost the same the choice would be clear but;
I have read that it sounds at 25 db (dont know how much that is but will try to investigate);
for my reasons, i can only have that at my room, and... i like sleeping XD.
While an Usb i guess that would do no sound np?
THanks for your reply

Indeed, a compac stick is soundless. But the PC where you plug in the stick might make a sound
Yap, i will plug it into my laptop, which is soundless.

Even better is a raspberryPI.  If you end up running it 24x7 you will really like the low electricity use of the RPI vs a laptop.

It's a little bit more upfront cost but will save you overtime.  I highly suggest getting one.

If i like this i will for sure go for it.

Just for starting (and i have free electricity) i will try with the laptop.

Thanks

Be carefull with the U3, it has quite a large "zombie" problem... If you find a way around it, or if you're lucky, the hashrate for the cost is great (especially if your power is free)

Actually it really has a pretty good fix at this point.  Buy a R1 with Crazy Guy's custom firmware - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=612390.0

I run 3 U3's that I constantly had to deal with zombies now without hardly any effort.  It ran for 5 day's without any issues.  I am now testing again to see new number but his custom firmware is amazing programming on fixing zombies.

The miner stop's mining goes into a state it does nothing.  So like a "zombie" it sit's there and does not mine.

It is well known with U3's.  The R1 with crazy guy's firmware really is a great fix for me at least.  It's ran great with 3 U3's.

The R1 is the Antminer Router. As others have said with CrazyGuys version of the firmware is a great companion for the U3.

Yes if you use it with regular computer I had tons of checking was a huge pain.

The R1 is actually a lotto miner made by bitmain.  Crazy Guy is a talented programmer and made custom firmware where if you purchase off him you can select to have it loaded.   With it I have had to stop checking for zombies it just runs, and fixes zombies on it's own.  It's amazing in my eyes.

Actually, i did not know that... Sounds really cool, but with my electricity prices, i can't make a profit on U3's, otherwise i'd be buying an R1 right now  Grin

I thought Sidehack was shipping out assembled sticks, not parts to be assembled.

Learn something new every day I guess.

They are assambled...
sidehack assambles them for the us, bitshopper.de assambles them for the EU. You can buy assambled sticks from either vendor Smiley

ANd when it goes into "zombie mode", what do you have to do in order to fix it?
just restart it? or things more complicated?

Thanks

I've never actually purchased one, but if i remember correctly, you just needed to unplug it, and plug it back in in order to "fix" the zombie-mode.

It's not difficult, but it's not a hands-free system. You need to monitor your U3 in order to restart it when it goes into zombie mode.
I would suggest using miningrigrentals, point your U3 towards them, and enter your pool of choice into miningrigrentals GUI. They send you a mail when your miner goes offline, so you don't need to monitor everything manually 24/7

What I had to do forever was unplug USB and Power then replug in.  Was using Windows 8 and cgminer.

But I switched to Crazy Guy's R1 custom firmware for purchasing for him and it's able to fix automatically via software.  So I don't have to touch them to fix each time.  Which is great.
