If i run two or three of these from home will I need a PDU? Or is a decent surge board enough?

What is your voltage?

If you are 220-240

A pdu will run 3 maybe 4 on 1 circuit.

If you are 110-120 volt 1 unit per circuit means no need for a pdu

Electricity is supplied throughout New Zealand at 230/240 volts (50 hertz), although most hotels and motels provide 110 volt AC sockets (rated at 20 watts) for electric razors only. For all other equipment, an adapter/converter is necessary, unless the item has a multi-voltage option.

I'll be at home so should I use a PDU? Can you point me towards some acceptable ones for a home miner please?

Or better yet tell me what I need to consider when powering my miners etc. At most I will have like three of these some day but start with one most likely!

not sure how it work there :

here is a few for 220 30 amp plugs ,I'm  guessing your rated at 30 amps ? . 50 hertz doesn't mean to much it maters some  , most stuff now a days runs at 50 to 60 hertz Smiley 110 220 etc . in this case you want to look at amps 30 40 50  and plugs to match . if want to use  40 amp or 50 amps you need a plug and wire to match. I'm told for the plug you can wire in a 30 amp plug on a 40 or 50 amp breaker but from what i was told it will only give you 30 amps of use . amps determines how much you can plug into that line.

I use one of these :

http://www.ebay.com/itm/AP7841-APC-Metered-Rack-PDU-30A-200-208V-20-C13-4-C19-/121806576709?hash=item1c5c3cdc45:g:b4EAAOSwk5FUttA9

on this PDU.  I had 9 miners run in 24/7 with no issue the highest i pushed between both banks was 16 amps total for the whole PDU.

using this plug to plug into the wall Wink .

After my talks with them, it appears that immediate shipping is the only advantage of this hardware over the S7.  I would hope they ship immediately, otherwise, why would someone buy one of these?

one designer of the gear stated they can be undervolted.

so until this is proven one way or the other it makes it have a possible extra value.

and a rasp pi backup is under 50 bucks  which makes possible down time due to controller less likely then the s-7.

some good news is kilo17 's gear is enroute which means I will be getting one sent to me soon.

And I will do the long review with undervolt in mind.

will it need a rasp pi why not a banana pi or cubieboard which might run it better , if it has code on https://github.com/ you can  polly use this http://www.armbian.com/ with the code off https://github.com and run it that way , I'm guessing and use one these http://www.armbian.com/download/  just wondering .  i'm willign to bet it will work on a Rasp pi 2 , im very tamped to buy one but not going to .just sold all most all my miner got close 2100 for them all but IM gonna chill for now and learn and watch .

The sticks do as long as CG Or BFG has support they will  :L) . just up todate CG or BFG to the main miner or use the custom folder or get Avalon version of CGminer and import into minera,  sense that's what it says it's using, it should work.but you may not have some setting in minera you Polly will with there image and have to use a lot command line stuff in minera image for those setting .

Cool I have plenty of Pi's, do they come with software?  Do you have to DL an image?  Always had Antminers, 1st time with an Avalon.

one off zoomhash doesn't come with a pi but I'm  sure they will provide a link for the image which is usually free Smiley .

    CONTROLLER (NOT INCLUDED):

Raspberry Pi, Version B or B+ (RPi 2 is not yet supported)

Each RPi can control 50+ miners

(We can sell RPi kits for $75)
    COMMUNICATION INTERFACE:

    IIC/I2C
    WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

    0C to 35C, 10% to 80% relative humidity, non-condensing
    TRANSPORT / STORAGE ENVIRONMENT:

    -15C to 40C, 10% to 90% relative humidity
    DIMENSIONS:

    354mm x 130mm x 150mm
    WEIGHT:

    4.3kg
    PERFORMANCE VARIANCE:

± 5% variance possible on quoted performance statistics

only reason why they say this RPi 2 is not yet supported there image is a old one and it won't support PI 2 but the way around that is update the image in a PI below 2 then pop it in a PI2, it should boot up unless there is no drivers at all for the PI 2 or they won't let you up date the image yet why i also asked if they won't all you need then is a way to down there program and then build it from it there . well see. That's how got the ZOOMhash image for Zeusminer working on my PI2 Smiley .
banana pi  and cubieboard i built it on a armbian image sense they gave us the https://github.com/  link to it with a way to build it Smiley .

kind why i was asking will it work on anything else besides PI i wiling to bet it will .

I will do the long review with undervolt in mind.

Great.  If it can get under 0.2w/gh I may still consider grabbing one.

Im still curious about the noise levels.

This might the fan it uses ?
