Kim Dotcom, the internet ‘mega’ mogul, fugitive in the eyes of the United States is the person who is going to build Meganet, the decentralized internet harnessing the power of smartphones. A decentralized internet that will be powered by millions of devices called smartphones which we can find anywhere across the world these days.

.com been saying that for a while now. He was just as vague about it then as now.

Going to also need your own routers and wifi antennas for decentralized internet.

Meshnet is one of the best initiatives for decentralized internet.

So why does .com never mention these things, just some well duh, hype about smart phones.

I think he just wants attention.

Where's all the data going to be stored? Smartphones have limited memory and significant off time when their batteries run out, or they exceed their data allowance. If he can do it I'll take my hat off to him, but I can't understand how he can make a data intensive network function with low power devices like smart phones.

Not necessarily. I've looked into this - you can attach extra data to wifi beacon packets to enable p2p networking. You'd need a firmware update tho, but that's still better than new routers.

If we're using the old internet to access the new internet, how is this better than tor?
