Once per 24 hours, you need to delete every bump before you do another bump.

After you make the new posts(bump) you should remove/delete the other bump that was before it, some people bump their thread many times a day but this is not good.

Bumping more than one time a day is against rules so that was my suggestion to not bump more than once. I think that you got the answer and locking the thread would be good.
