Well first of all gambling is never addicting.
The reason I would say this is because most of the people who gamble and cry that they lost this much money is because of human nature as they are greedy to get more. In other words addicting = greed. I think the best way for not getting addicted is not investing or maybe having a goal before investing or maybe a strategy

So I stopped for a while and did that again after 3 months but it got over in a day. People will mostly choose illegal one for the legal one. True on this big percentage is from those countries but quite big percentage is from countries where gambling is legal. Think more to person rather then what is legal  or not

I've tried gambling before from poker, to roulette, blackjack, slots and even some sports betting... never did I find it appealing or addictive, tho I like poker and still play it but for fun not for money but my dad, uncle and brother are betting day to day. I don't even find  sports that interesting tbh lol
