Had a think about the farming work out for week(s) at a time work:  You ( shorena ) are contacted by a person wanting work that will take one or more weeks to solve.  You contact me to see if I am interested and I send you a Part Public key of mine which you generate a key with the prefix (something memorable ) for example... 1TL2o67 or 12o67TL (the latter I estimate to take about 15 mins at 11MKeys/sec to reach 50% mark)  You advise the person requesting work of this wallet address and they pay the full amount into that wallet.

You advise me of the wallet address and I confirm payment via http://blockchain.info/address/12o67TLetcETC and begin mining with the details provided using the third parties Part Public Key.  When I find the required solution, I send the found Part Private Key to you ( shorena ), you forward to the client who confirms it's validity.  You then send me the part Part Private Key for the 1TL2o67 / 12o67TL wallet and from those funds I then send you a small token agreed to previously.

Let me rephrase to make sure I understood correctly.

Lets assume Alice wants a vanity address 1WoNDRLND (any case).
#1 Alice gets a price from shorena.
#2 shorena gets a public key from Alice
? Alice pays to <does not exist yet>
#4 shorena send Timelord2067 Alice's pubkey
#5 Timelord2067 sends shorena a prefix and public key for the payment address (e.g. 12o67)
#6 shorena generates the vanity payment address 12o67examp1e1a1a1a
#7 shorena asks Alice for payment to 12o67examp1e1a1a1a
#8 once payment is confirmed,Timelord2067 starts searching for the address
#9 etc...

While I like the idea to use a vanity address for this. I think a 2-2 multi-sig wallet (e.g. with electrum) would be easier. Either of us has the addresses, but we can only spend the coins received together. This would simplify things as I could give Alice a payment address right away.

Have spent last few days pondering how to rephrase what I wrote above - You've almost got it I've adjusted the order to what I'm meaning...

TBH I've only heard about electrum in about the last month or so and know even less about it other than two wallets can deposit and withdraw from a third wallet??

Thanks for finishing/correcting, the problem I have with your approach is that Alice would have to wait for a payment address. She'd have to wait for her vanity address anyway, but the process is confusing enough as it is for some.

Alice doesn't participate in some steps; she asks for a quote, you give her the quote and at the same time know that I can be contacted (until further notice) for longer problems.

Alice accepts the quote and you provide her with a wallet for payment.  Unless you both are on line at the same time and there's a degree of urgency to Alice's request (which given a seven plus day mining time is unlikely), it's just given that you and she will have real world commitments.

I've underlined what I feel are the key points above.  These are the steps from Alice's perspective.  In all likely hood you would have my Part Public Key on file and with a 12o67ExampLe1a2b3c4d5e6f7d taking a moment to generate, can take the order, give a quote and provide a wallet all in one step.

That means Alice has paid and shorena can't access the payment for a refund. No offence taken - if Timelord2067 disappears [1], neither Timelord2067, shorena, nore Alice can access the funds.  I 've only briefly skimmed over the talk about multiple signatures on the BitCoin Escrows thread and it reads as though if one won't sign, no one can access - as I said I've only just skimmed over it, so may have totally misread it.

Even though I would feel more comfortable using a 2-2 multisig wallet, Im fine doing it this way. It adds a certain flavor. If you want we can just prepare a single address now for the first order and create a second once its finished. That way there is no need to wait and we both already have the partial private keys somewhere secure when the order comes in.
