Why do people use so many Bitcoin wallets?

IMO because each wallet has a unique advantage unique in it and of itself, for example electrum and blockchain are very fast and relatively easy to use, other wallets like armory or bitcoin core are more complicated but relatively more secure.

yeah it's possible. people want a different wallet facility. I myself use electrum and blockchain
both have their respective advantages, and I can take advantage of both

Exactly, mainly I use blockchain, but when I have to gamble I use multibit, as the bitcoins sent on betting sites are instant, where as sending from blockchain is bit time consuming and it might change the odds meanwhile, so its better to have multiple wallets.

Yes everyone uses many bitcoin wallet different for different uses.

They use so many wallets because they need safety, I do it also.
Its very safe so if it goes wrong(hacked) you still will have some bitcoins.

I use 2 wallets. They're both for different use. I also keep some BTC in a few exchanges so I can trade quickly on an hot altcoin.

Not bad to store your bitcoin in two wallet .. it will make easier to organize your different purposes. But i suggest you to print out the identifier for avoid sometimes yyou forget it

I noticed this too and do not why exactly since the bitcoin core or any other wallet will do since the protocol and the system is the same, also online wallets are very risky way of keeping bitcoins imo since you do not hold your private keys.

I do it for safety reasons, I have a wallet on my phone with a small amount of BTC for buying stuff. I
also have a full encrypted wallet on my PC with the majority of coins in it. Currently I'm looking into
using some paper wallets to move some of the coins from my PC wallet into as a long term cold storage.

I guess it's about ease of use and the needs of the user, each wallet focus on a certain aspect "blockchain, ease of use. electrum, ease of use. armory, security" etc...

Idk, I was using only two couple of years ago, and now there is only one left. I know many people here will say I'm crazy, but I'm using Coinkite and that's my only wallet now. I like the fact that you have access to your coins from anywhere on Earth, and for that you don't need to have even a smartphone, just an Internet café nearby is enough.

Yes, it is highly similar to diversifying our investments. More over my wallets are just investment vehicles virtually. But all the wallets will provide me same rate of returns when bitcoin gets more value appreciations. Yes I use different wallets for my cold storage.

I agree I don't see the point either.
Two wallets are enough. One online, not secured but with free transactions for really small amounts. And one desktop, secured and good for the rest of my btc

apart from that I like to diversify... blocktrail, blockchain.info... mycelium. spread the risk to minimize it

Different people have different purposes for using different wallets , some use it so as to secure their accounts and to stay away from hackers, some people use different wallets so as to use different bitcoin addresses for different purposes, which make it convenient and anonymous their transactions. I am using different wallets addresses for security. which is important

Yeah, everyone know that it is more secure if they use multiple bitcoin wallets, as all the online transactions of bitcoin are viewable to everyone. So I prefer to use multiple wallets so that no one know about all my transactions and I do not want that someone know about that how much bitcoin I got and I have.

These people feel that much more convenient and faster.
Flashy is also safe but there is a chance you can be hacked but that chance is very small.

Honestly even using multiple wallet can be prone to bitcoin loss.

Web wallets can be gone someday, offline wallet can be erased, paper wallet can be misplaced.

In the end even using multiple wallets, you are the best wallet here. Take care of your wallets.
