Well in a case that a hacker got access to your wallet, I'm sure your Betcoin.tm account would be the least to worry Email confirmation is more vulnerable than a address signed message IMO, but implementing 2FA for alternative is good idea. It's simpler and as secure as a signed message.

No, you don't need to sync anything to sign a message, you just need the address' private key.
