I don't think there's any need to speed up the blind levels. Just kick out the inactive players. If they paid for their seat then it's fine to be sitting out the whole game, but these guys are sitting out just hoping to take 2nd place with no effort, and it's annoying for those of us wanting to take 1st place to have to click 'raise' a hundred times to blind them out heads up.

yes, every player inactive for 5 minutes should be removed from the table, such as nitrogensport.eu and other site poker.

indeed this need to implement, saw some player just registered on tournament and offline.. its really bad experience for other poker player.
maybe after 10min ( 1round ) without playing would be kicked out..
anyway ive won massive luck on 7th place, didn't realize the prize was 0.05

It is true, if that is the case then those who wish to register for the freeroll will be deterred by those who have registered but offline.

Our system auto-blocks accounts with the same IP accessing the poker suite, since there's no way to ever verify that you were playing honestly. Even though I personally trust you and lots of people on the forum trust you, it would not be fair to our other players to allow that type of thing unless we did it across the board.

You'd be blocked from poker, unfortunately, but not our other games. Since we can't be in your flat with you making sure you're not sharing info for your hands, we have to block people on the same IP

But if each of the 5 people was using their own phone's data connection to get online it would be OK?

I think you should detect collusion based on in-game actions not on which IP address they are using, because it is so easy to change your IP address.

IP address is a very poor indicator of collusion; same IP address doesn't imply collusion, and different IP address doesn't imply lack of collusion.

We have both in place.

If 5 people are playing on the same IP then obviously something is going on and we can't monitor that. If someone is using the same IP address because they changed it and *somehow* it was the same as another person's then the signs would be pretty clear - the chances of that happening are pretty low and even if it did there are still ways to tell that's what's going on.

It's true, there's no way to prove someone is playing honestly.

You can only prove that someone is being dishonest. 

Allowing players to use the same ip gives them a chance to be transparent. 

Are roomates not allowed to play on your site at the same time?  Poker is fun to play with friends, most poker players prefer to beat their friends - not cheat with them.  If two friends were playing from the same location, would you rather one of them changed their ip, so you didn't know or they both played from the same?


In the online poker world, the norm is to not allow multiple players from the same ip to sit at the same cash game. but usually tournaments are ok.  (I believe stars only allows same ips to reg in mtts with 45 players or more, partypoker allows any non-sit n go - just examples)  If there is anything which triggers an investigation - it would obviously not look good if they had the same ip.

Online poker players tend to be friends with each other, live together, hang out together etc...not to mention during major live events at casinos, everyone uses the same wifi to play the same tournaments.  Only allowing one player per ip would kill any sites tournament schedule.

Most of them aren't cheaters and I would imagine those who do cheat would use different ips whether they were forced to or not.

You bring up some good points, as does Dooglus. I'm going to chat with some folks here - we've talked about these issues more than once already.

The options that we have are to a.) turn up the heat on the in-game collusion reports without IP blocks or b.) keep the block in place.

I'm pretty sure there are ways to get past any anti-collusion software, but obviously we'll have to consider giving people a chance and disabling the blocks for users that request it - while also perhaps limiting their access to some games as a sort of probationary period.

I think you register for every game but don't play. It is annoying waiting for you to blind out.
