Just noticed your pic with the monster heatsink, jesus.... Shocked.

its a sink for a Northbridge with ether a massive CPU heatsink, or for the Southbridge with large GPUs

but none the less, its moving the heat off nicely, ambient is 20 degrees Celsius, sink is 35 43 degrees at the top fin.

im wondering if running the 2 instances of CGMiner, on the 1 login causes one to drop the whole lot of miners its working with (eg: the 9 sticks all go down then reset usb connection)

Bloody hell its a beast all right! I bet it does cool that tiny chip ok Smiley.

I'm not sure about issues with running 2 instances of cgminer to be honest I've never done it, perhaps ask on a cgminer thread.

here it be the one i was getting the hack on

and here is a old pic of the other 9:

and a recording

ignore Steve Gibson talking about microsofts security issues in the background

The heatsink is awesome but what's the raw looking stuff in the sardine can behind the nine sticks?
I'm thinking it's a biological voltage control adjustable by flicking some of the barnacles toward one end of the can or the other.
It's probably a secret, so I understand if you can't talk about it Wink

I have noticed that with the low hash rate of the sticks the Difficulty takes 10 Mins or so to adjust down from 1K. Is there any way to set the Pool to something lower at start up?

With cgminer command line I use this to start diff at 30: --suggest-diff 30

So complete is:

cgminer -o stratum+tcp://solo.ckpool.org:3333 -u 1JiWuyX94wrCr7JhkAn7x5qNMCEef1KhqX.hedgy73stick --compac-freq 300 --suggest-diff 30

OK that is good. I am in the process of swapping over the R1 that I am using to control the Compac, as soon as I get everything stabilised I am going to try your code.  Smiley

Quite separate from your code is there anything that can be put in the Worker Configuration to set the initial Difficulty?

Rich

hedgy73 just seen your reply, will try that, Thanks

It's probably top secret though, so I understand if you can't talk about it Wink

You see, the sardine can is my little biological bitcoin miner im working on, you know how hard it is to feed that plankton when you live in the middle of australia?... the rest is just desoldering crap pushed aside on the table to sit the laptop down.

not really, the can is my soldering iron cleaner.. i really do need to clean up that table, stripping off little SMD components just to get the circuit board clean (to get the gold/silver off the pcbs, and the Palladium/silver out of the smd capacitors) does get messy..

I have noticed that with the low hash rate of the sticks the Difficulty takes 10 Mins or so to adjust down from 1K. Is there any way to set the Pool to something lower at start up?

Rich

The command varies depending which mining client you are using, cg or bfg, but there are commands for both to set a lower starting difficulty.  It's cosmetic, though, and has 0 impact on your hashing.

Agreed it will have no effect in the long run, however with a low hash stick and 1K difficulty it can take 20 Mins to initially get a share accepted, so it just seems much neater to give the auto set algorithm a suggestion.  Smiley I have now SSH into R1 and set the initial difficulty.

is anyone else in here running the compac sticks off a r1 antrouter?
Is there a firmware out there to update it to control the compac, wouldn't you need to install cgminer-gekko on the R1 first?

im wondering if running the 2 instances of CGMiner, on the 1 login causes one to drop the whole lot of miners its working with (eg: the 9 sticks all go down then reset usb connection)
I run 3 instances of cgminer on my desktop and don't have any issues.  In fact, I think I actually noticed a performance increase from my various usb miners when I gave them each their own instances (one for compac sticks, one for nanofury sticks, one for U3 before I let the R1 take it).
