This might sound crazy but do you ever imagined yourself playing with an arcade cabinet, with the ability to pay with Bitcoins instead of a quarter? (0.25 usd) I have been looking for such machine that would serve that purpose, but I can't seem to find it. It will be real fun to play some of the arcade classics with your BTC. Don't you think?

Bitcoin isn't the most suited for this use case because of the long confirmation times. Can you imagine adding a credit and waiting minutes just to start your game.

Most arcade machines that I see, don't see any particular use and since we are talking about pennies here, I guess you could let the player play with 0 confirmations. There are some companies developing such zero confirmation solutions as well.

And what about faster confirmation coins like Litecoin? Are they worth the shot? I would surely become addicted to an arcade machine with such capabilities to pay with crypto.

I imagine, the best way to implement an arcade that accepts bitcoin, is to use bespoke tokens which you can put into the machines, but must be bought prior. This is how the asian arcades work. Bitcoin can then be used to buy these tokens.

in my opinion using fiat in this situation better than using bitcoin cause bitcoin prices varie so arcade machines need internet connections to keep taking value of 0.25 cents also there is the confirmation problem and i think saving bitcoin for the future at this moment better then wastung it on old games probably can ply on his phnoe now

As an aside I'm very curious to know why arcade games haven't advanced one bit in twenty years. I still see the same games at the seaside that were there when I was a nipper. I fully assumed they'd be virtual reality miracles by now.

I would have to say that that would be very easy to do. The issues is how many people would be playing it at first. The machine software may get outdated before enough people play it to make a profit.

most people believe it or not are actually honest, (its the reason why retailers like Tesco and sainsburys allow self check out) stick a camera up and most people will act honestly, even if the camera is not working. there's been tons of research done in this area, we as humans are really predictable..... i think in the future someone will come up with a problem to the 0 confirmatiion thing anyway. and yes playing games using bitcoins would be class, and is going to be a necessity in the future anyway cause we aint going to use coins.........

Already been done, I remember a picture with an arcade machine running what probably was mame, and you were able to pay and play games on it, it had the street fighter cabinet, I will try to find the picture. Edit: Anyway couldn't find that one but I have found this:

I doubt that there will ever be these kind of machines. With Bitcoin's long transaction time, you would be waiting a long time to play the game. We might see these machines if Bitcoin's transactions becomes instant.

This is where fiat or a credit card becomes very handy. Bitcoin just can't do all the things that fiat can and vise versa, thats why we need both in the world.

You can always accept 0 confirmations or wait for Lightning Network which will make instant payments like this pretty much possible so stuff like this could perfectly run under the Bitcoin ecosystem, it already does in casino online games.

I personally very much have. I look back to the days where is rush to the "Time Zone" at the mall after school, and blow $15 on street fighter. Oh, those are the days. Of only there was a full bitcoin arcade... Sure, you could always accept 0 confirmations, but people could intentionally double spend, no matter how cheap it is. Have you seen people scam for less than a cent here?

Well the idea is really great. but the best thing to make that work is to have a card in the arcade. then that card is where you will load your fiat or btc. which will be your coins. like in some amusements. they are already using card. for their machines. so its really much possible for it.
