That's what anonymous author of the puzzle is telling us, and he backed his claim with all these BTC. If he is wrong, someone would pick the money from this puzzle. Sooo wrong There is no direct relation between 32BTC puzzle and "real wallets". While searching for modest .5BTC puzzle you can discover 50.000BTC wallet due to collision. What is wrong in what I said? Also, there are no known collisions for both SHA-256 and RIPEMD-160 hash functions. Not a single one. Since there is close to 0 chance of finding collision for these hashes, there is even endlessly smaller chance that potential collision would be on BTC private key and not on some other series of bytes. No, you will not find 50.000 BTC wallet by searching for the solution of this puzzle, I guarantee you that.

Formula 358 doesn't seem relevant. It's obvious that if you substract n/128 (or something smaller) from n, the result will be close to n. This is not a pattern.
Vanitygen should work on any hardware. Your hashrate will depend on the computing power.

I have seen some of these before and I have to ask, how do you solve things like this. Is there a method or general way to go about looking at this. All this is to me is numbers and letters. None of it makes sense to me, but I would like it to make sense.

Nice attempt DannyHamilton! There must be a way to make it much more efficient as the last three addresses were found so fast it couldn't have been by brute forcing. Maybe if we learn a bit more from how the numbers were generated it could greatly optimize the program.
