It seems like a very common rhetoric that the price is bound to increase, but somebody has to be thinking the opposite otherwise the price would have ballooned already.
I'm interested in hearing the argument against the price increase. I mean, I know theres the idea of pricing in, but what else is there?

Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the
subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The
subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

This concerns me about what will happen to bitcoin price after 2016 ? Will it crash after the block halving ? Is there any upcoming incident in 2017-18 that may push the price up again ?
Of course that everybody hopes for awesome price rise this year, because of halving, because of openbazaar opening too, many reasons for that And i really think that price will rise, should be around 700$ at end of this year,but i have no idea what price rises will be in 2017-2018 years |

What I am about to say is not a rational argument at all but.... if you believe that the BTC price will not increase significantly around the halving, you should not be a trader. You do not understand market psychology, herd mentality, panic buying, etc...
You are trying to apply logic to price movement which will get you no where.

There is always a hype every now and then, but Bitcoin is too big to just stop in such a short period of time. And the halving should make the price rise significantly. |

I am one of those who believe that after halving the price of Bitcoin will go up, but I don't think anyone can tell by how much.
Yes no one can really tell what will the price be but it will certainly go up thats what we are all waiting for. We are already into 4th month of 2016 and there is no considerable increase in bitcoin price.I think we will hear some good news at the end of year |

But you see that the halving is coming and that would be nice for the people who already have Bitcoin so they can maybe sell it later after the halving, but you never know.

Speculation is right now Bitcoin's biggest network effect. Some do it on short term, others on a long term. Being in for long is having the advantage that whatever is happening due to halving shouldn't really bother you. But of course everyone will have a smile on his face if Bitcoin should rise in value. |

There is a big chance the price will rise to a higher amount and there are even people saying that its gonna reach a record height for the bitcoin itself.
If this happen it would be very good for the popularity but also for us all to make profit of course.

There is a big chance the price will rise to a higher amount and there are even people saying that its gonna reach a record height for the bitcoin itself.
If this happen it would be very good for the popularity but also for us all to make profit of course.
It will rise even after the Halving. Because people will realise that the amount of BTC is limited. And also, there will be another halving approaching and so on. |
