Why Bitcointalk.org is so weak on Facebook?

There are only 1100 followers. In forum, it's obvious that there are more active users than this.

Not all Bitcoin users find websites with .org extension. I'm also not watching any Bitcoin pages on Facebook.

Some people just want to remain anonymous withtheir profiles on forums rather than revealitheir true identity onthe facebook. Facebook is not tha reliable when it comes to bitcoin informtion anyway, havig followers there or not really doesn't makes much difference. People still prefer to stay in the forums.

Because Facebook is useful, but its not something i mix with online activities and there is no central authority promoting Bitcoin.org, nor is there really a reason to promote the website itself. The news are somewhere else and its quite possible the Bitcoin.org group is not from the official group.

Used to have an account on Facebook but deactivated it a few days back. There are a couple of Bitcoins pages on it but I am not sure if I saw Bitcoins.org on it. Also just 1.1k followers??? There are related and useless pages that are more crowded than Bitcoins.org.

Lol, because if you value your privacy, like a lot of bitcoiners do, Facebook is not the place for you.  I had an account for about 2 months back in 2010 and all of their shit made me extremely paranoid and so I shut it down.  I can't stand Facebook, and I'd say I'm a typical bitcoin user.

I can understand if people don't want to legitimately book their personal social media profiles to bitcoin.org for personal privacy reasons. It is understandable for security. Sometimes, it is better left unknown and unsearched.

I for one am not on Facebook, I don't like that place. Also, does that account on fb stays updated? People usually tend to follow those accounts more on social media which remain active.

is it a official page of bitcoin.org at facebook ?

i dont think so its bad to like a bitcoin related group or page on facebook with your real id i mean you are not breaking any law by liking a page of something and if you are to much thinking about your privacy then we all have a 2nd fake facebook id Cheesy

I didn't mean that you must declare your forum account ID on facebook. Facebook is a very common place for all of us and we often check our facebook wall even in toilet while we are having a s**t. Smiley A facebook group for Bitcoin.org is necessary for checking news about forum and easily navigate to there. Or maybe bitcoin news, new signature companies or other stuffs.

If its official i wouldn't mind following/liking the page, I don't mind revealing my identity. In fact I'm building reputation online as specialist on social media marketing to which I provide services on upwork.
The problem with facebook though is that people there are just interested to meet someone to date with so you can't expect them to read and be interested to something like bitcoin unless you advertise on facebook and target individual who could be interested on btc.

I could imagine how many likes could be generated on the official fb page of BT

if Theymos threw 1,000 BTC at them, prob end up as most liked page on the Internet

Because on Facebook you can't earn bitcoin and on bitcointalk.org you can earn bitcoin by posting ( signature campaign ). i think it's the problem why on facebook not same as on forum.

Yes, you are right but we are in the same ship. We need to be more active to spread the word. If BTC gets more popular than usage or awareness of this concept will increase and so the usage of BTC as well.

A cryptocurrency's value is all about it's popularity. If everybody talks about it than transactions and value will increase eventually.

As others already mentioned, they wan't to stay anonymous and maybe some of those who joined that group may have used a facebook account with fake information.
