I want to know the best GPU I can buy right now to profit in script mining. I already have Antminer S3s running alongside, mining new SHA-256 coins but I want to run script mining so that I can cover the losses for running my Antminers.
Is there any updated thread here showing the comparison between various GPUs that are profitable for mining script or other algorithms?

If you can obtain free or cheap electricity, then you can use GPUs for mining DASH. But better ask in Altcoins sub-forum.

i actually just bought 2x r9 280x;s for my gaming pc and have free power at home wonder if it would be worth mining ltc or something else when im not actually using my pc

Does not exist nor has it existed for over 2 years. ASIC on Scrypt have pushed so far past GPUs that there is no such thing as a GPU that can profitably mine Scrypt - even with FREE electric, you'll probably have the card die before it manages to mine enough to pay for itself. For that matter, the Gridseed GC3355-based ASIC gear is to the point it's not profitable unless your electric is VERY VERY cheap - despite being a lot more efficient than any GPU ever was at mining Scrypt-based coins. If you look into non-Scrypt non-SHA256 coins, THOSE can still be mined for a profit in some cases by some GPUs. DASH would be a good choice for Maxwell-based NVidia cards given recent X11 optimisations for them, not so good of late on anything AMD though probably profitable enough on free or VERY VERY cheap electric.

and have free power at home wonder if it would be worth mining ltc or something else You can successfully mine DASH (using latest modified sgminer by Nicehash) or Etherium with non-zero profit. And you can mine BURST (Proof-of-Capacity coin).

Unfortunately, you can't cover the losses for your running antminers with mining any scryptcoin. Why ? Because there is ASICs too for scrypt algorithm.shortly its like mining bitcoin with gpu. But you can mine various coins and make good profits, monero,monero-like,sia,vanillacoin,spreadcoin

https://www.nicehash.com/index.jsp?p=software#gpuYou can still do nicely if you have enough power like maybe 7 or 8 AMD cards they work best 280X or better and mine the right coins. and yea the older 7000 series still work ok .

How long will maxwell cards be good for mining? 4-5 years? How long for an S7? since im not about mining bitcoin idk about s7.i think it can't exceed 5 years, you know new technologies are presented almost every 1.5 year by the companies.i dont know the all recent maxwell nvidia cards but if you want an advice mine is gtx 960 it has cuda 5.2 its fairly cheaper than higher models when giving good enough performance. also sp_ , djm34 and others working hard on improving speed of ccminer for compute 5.0 , 5.2 cards

i have big doubts someone is making any profits with GPU unless they have free electricity, otherwise, nope, not a chance.

As far as ASIC for Cryptocoin mining goes, the next generation (14/16nm full custom) will be the last for 3+ years, as ASIC will have finally caught up to current "state of the art" for semiconductor manufacturing.

HD7950 / R9 280 / R9 270 on the AMD side for hash/watt.
7970s / R9 280Xs are also close.

Burst works perfectly for me just with 2x3 Tb HDDs inserted into my humble "mining rig" containing just 2 R9 290s.

GPU mining is only for cheap electricity users. The mining difficulty is too high now for most people to mine profitably.

Thanks guys for all of your suggestions.
Well, I would like to ask one more question. Is AMD Radeon R9 270x vapor best for x11 mining right now?
I think it has pretty good hashing power and it is more energy efficient too. Also it is used by Genesis Mining too.
Waiting for your recommendations on it along with its pros and cons.
