Everyone can use bitcoins and dollars, why do even bother if terrorist use it or not!?
Knife can be used for cutting bread and for cutting throats..Knife is not guilty!
This is the point we all have to understand, almost all thing or service has multiple use and the one who uses it should be responsible for the result afterwards rather than those services.

In the modern era, the crime has been to many aspects and also through legal institutions, including western union can be used by terrorists to carry out its activities

What happen to the strict implementation of western union of their KYC - know your customer policy,  Huh

Can you read?

The man, using the false Samir Bouzid identification card at a Western Union outlet

This is the point exactly: they didn't knew who their customer was...

Does Western Union have the authority to access the government system to verify a identification card?

Not sure but I don't think that it can happen. It's probably more the opposite, the government can search WU's clients ID's. At least that's what those laws are for... Looks like something failed halfway through with those laws in this case.

It's not like they use WU entirely. More of it comes from the black market I suppose.

That's kinda scary, using false identification to make wire transfers from western union. I mean isn't it evident that a lot of fake ID services are on the dark net and easy to purchase. I wonder thought, if they did use Bitcoin we'd not really know would we?

They use any means possible to send/receive money, if governments really want to stop terrorists they need to focus less on how and where are they getting their funds but more on where are they buying guns and explosives from.

And they might use more Bitcoins in future as lot of their cash stored in a bank was destroyed recently by US air-strike:
Citing unnamed US defense officials, CNN reported that the building was destroyed by two 2,000 pound bombs. The officials could not say exactly how much money was held at the bank or in what currency the funds were denominated, but one described it as "millions," CNN said.

Exactly, sadly Bitcoin has received a lot of negative image that doesn't really deserve. However we should be fair and say that Bitcoin is also the preferred method for many illegal activities and sadly a lot of headlines are based on scandals, hacks, scams, exchanges running with the money, drug trafficking, etc.

Terrorists don't need Western Union or Bitcoin to launder money. We know terrorists use sleeper agents to perform their nasty business. What if there were a lot more of these sleepers than we think. Except these sleepers are only for exchanging money. If there were say 1000 sleepers in various countries around the world a naughty organization could send each one of them a few thousand dollars of dirty money every few months. They could be told to send that money to a charity in their own name. The charity could then use the money to buy property all over the world. The operator of the charity is also the naughty organization so they can sell the property and redirect the funds wherever they need it.

If I can just casually think of this what are the real terrorists doing? My point is, we are never going to be able to figure out what real terrorists are doing just like law enforcement most likely never will. I'm sure real terrorists have twenty washing methods with a couple of them designed for law enforcement to find as a diversion. Bitcoin and Western Union most likely aren't used at all.

I also think like that, if they make all transactions through western union, they will detected easily. They need to black market to protect their sensitive transactions.

The whole FUD game over bitcoin is a futile attempt to discredit it. Sit back & think for a while, what was 9/11 funded with, peanuts?

Terrorism & illegal activity has been run with fiat for the last, well hundreds of years & before that gold, silver etc.

If something has a value it will be used to pay for good & bad things.

They are using everything and anything that serve to them. They use banks and other things as well. We can just talk about who support them, and in whos interes they are doing all this things.
To whom they sell all that oil and drugs that make, and who is selling them weapons and other things?

It is not matter what they use and how they use it.
Government with their NSA super pc can track them easily.
So if you using btc in small volume and dont buying drugs and guns you are not their priority and they won't bother you..

But i hardly can imagine terrorist syncing their wallets and waiting confirmations in the middle of desert..
Cash, gold, diamonds is are their ways of tradings.

I don't think that you can use only one situation, one example, and based on it have such conclusion.
If you will have opportunity to research more about terrorists and how they finance their activities, such research (and conclusion based on the facts in the research) will be relevant.
Sorry but your conclusion that Terrorists use Western Union, not Bitcoin, based on one example only, is not relevant.
It's only your conclusion but without concrete facts and evidence.

What happen to the strict implementation of western union of their KYC - know your customer policy,  Huh

KYC is bullshit. You can find any ID for very cheap prices in deepweb. You can use that ID in almost every service.
I support this idea. Blame Western Union, Paypal, Perfect Money etc. for laundering money and buying weapons. Bitcoin is far better than these payment systems, they can't treat Bitcoin like evil money.

Terrorists may not use western union and bitcoins because they do transaction through hawala only because they thinks its a safe process for them. Their party deposit the money locally in his country and the other party from other country sends money to a person who has link to his country so he pays the local currency there. There is very small charges they also take for transactions of money.

If the Western Union verify the ID with the issuing government, then there is no use of the fake ID.

Fair enough but currencies, especially crypto ones take a big pride on offering "anonymous" features and that's too me is just plain wrong. I get that many of users here hate banks and things like that, but guess what, you are being filmed everywhere you go, you are being tracked, etc, you can't just hide. And to be honest, people who really want to remain anonymous are using it for dubious things, that's the bottomline.

It's like saying torrents are ok only if you use them with public domain films and freeware. Yeah right, we all know people use them to download copyrighted stuff.

From
http://editi[Suspicious link removed]/2016/01/07/europe/paris-attacks-brussels-operatives/

The man, using the false Samir Bouzid identification card at a Western Union outlet in the Brussels area, wired 750 euros ($807) to Hasna Ait Boulahcen on November 17, the Belgian prosecutor's office said. Both of the publicized suspects -- the men going by the names of Kayal and Bouzid -- were at the store from which the money was sent.

Time to stop the stupid rumor that BTC is used by the bad guys. They're using WU.

dumb post
terrorsts use both bitcoin and wastern union

I'd have to agree. They use whatever they feel has th least chance of being caught. For some it's BTC for others it's cash.

Terrorists you mean to say politicians of the country? oh man they are already into bitcoins..they have invested all their black money into bitcoins as they also want to take advantage of decentralized currency but they don't what that their community and society should take advantage of it...lolz..

That is wide speculation. I think most politicians are not into bitcoin. They are rich people, even if 1% of their wealth is in bitcoin, the price will be very high.
