I joined up over here in 2012-13. At the time it seemed like a way to make a quick buck. Overtime as i read about it more and more, i became interested in the freedom it provides. As time has went on however, my interest and belief in bitcoin have waned. I won't get into the details of why, but i'm wondering what your honest opinion of bitcoin is, with a simple vote, and possibly an explanation.

My negative trust rating is reflective of a personal vendetta by someone on default trust.

Interesting take from someone who obviously has more experience. I think it's natural, I mean, the enthusiasm must start to fade year after year, but I feel that maybe you had too much misplaced hope in the first place. I recognize Bitcoin as a unique technology and completely innovative idea just like the internet was in the 90s, but we are still far away from the potential. Plus, you can't deny that as a investment if you bought a a good price in 2012 or so it has been appreciating yearly and it all points that it will keep doing so.

I still understand where are you coming from, there's a lot of issues still unresolved and Bitcoin still seems "stuck", let's see what 2016 brings.

I joined about the same time. At the time I was very interested in Bitcoin from a technical point of view, and I'm still interested just as much. Starting with the first bubble of 2013 (i.e. April), 90%+ of the people seemingly "interested" in Bitcoin were just circle jerking in their greed.

Don't get me wrong: I'm cool with greed, but people that were just hanging around because, you know, get rich quick 'n all, they bring nothing, nada, zip, nil to the community. Go watch your ticker, feed another trollbox and stop making noise.

And I won't even get into details about the horrible shitcoin spree all over the place at the same time.

Then it started deflating, and my hopes were that it would weed out the noise (on this forum and in general).

I don't know if it actually happened. At least the developments on max block size extensions are interesting to follow.

I still believe in Bitcoin. I started with Bitcoin in 2012 primarily as a get-rich-quick scheme, but pretty soon afterwards I learned there was so much more than that. As a tech guy, I am very interested in the technical workings of Bitcoin, the development, and all of the possibilities that we can do with Bitcoin and the blockchain. I still believe in Bitcoin, but less as an investment and more as a technology.

I like the idea of bitcoin, and at one point I definitely believed in it, but the more I think about it and the longer it exists, the more I think that it is NOT going to gain widespread traction. Right now it's seen mostly as a market for trading and making money rather than as something you would use to make purchases.

Companies are starting to accept bitcoin, which is a step in the right direction, but they exchange the bitcoin they receive immediately for regulated currency. The cost of an item in bitcoin depends on the price of bitcoin at a given moment, and can change every minute (whereas the USD price remains constant). In order for bitcoin to really take off, we would have to reach a point where this is flip flopped, and the value of USD is measured in bitcoin... where the value of stocks, commodities, anything... is measured in bitcoin. I have trouble imagining this happening.

But who knows, maybe I'll be wrong and bitcoin will be some kind of standard global currency 20 years from now.

TL;DR seems bad right now, maybe take a break. You'll likely get re-interested.

I also joined up around 2013, and I fell off from the forum twice during that time and now. I entirely understand where you're coming from.

Back when Bitcoin popped to $1k/piece, I was immensely interested in it. I came on this forum soon after I started learning about Bitcoin, and then worked for ~$230 in Bitcoin back when it was $700-$900 each. Then the crash to $200 came around, I bailed and bought PMs at $550.

I stopped here for about a year and a half, no signature campaign, nothing. Interest in Bitcoin was destroyed.

Come back summer last year, try getting back into the signature campaigns, but this forum was dead, so I gave up. No new threads or new content to discuss. There was no way to be interested in the forum and actually want to do anything, since a new reply would happen once in a dozen minutes.

Leave, come back a month and a half ago, find forums alive, having a good time.

In short, it'll seem lame right now, but you'll probably be re-interested in some period of time. Just find a new aspect to learn about.

It never hurts to take a break. I wouldn't say give up on Bitcoin, but just step away from it. Maybe find a new hobby that will engage you like Bitcoin then. The best thing is that you now understand how it works and what it does. If the technology ever goes mainstream will have that knowledge to help make any transitions for you easier.

I learnt and entered the Bitcoin world from 2014 and never lost interest in it since then, right now I am thinking of starting a local business (still unclear as to where to start) where I would offer the product/services in BTC with a little discount, it would be a good way to attract attention of people who are unknown to it and educate them when they ask for it. So to answer your question, "Yes", I completely believe in it.

It has been a wild ride over the years, if you were around since before the MtGox episodes. Some people got left behind there and then we had Silkroad and what came with that. We went through all the Cloud mining scams and Ponzi's and HYIP and people who got hacked and lost huge amounts of coins.

The road to success is never paved. We will hang on and receive the rewards when it's time.

Voted 1 for yes.  Grin I still do believe in it. I dont really know why you  stop believing. Perhaps it is the bad side or some experiences that went over you for the long years that you have been with bitcoin.
But let us give it a chance. Somehow it will be known and be used in many other ways with a good side in it.

I got into Bitcoin myself at the end of 2011 and all I knew then was how to mine using GPU so my only interest then, was to earn Bitcoin and nothing serious about it's idea or potential but as time passes, I've grown so much into the whole potential Bitcoin posses and I could faithfully tell that it's the best thing made in these couple of past years in the digital world. Can't imagine how my life would've been if it wasn't here and this is also why it's getting better and better over time (thanks to the developers team).

so far i am still believing in bitcoin. Smiley
simply because bitcoin could overthrow the traditional fiat.

out of ability to use the signature, i want a new ban strike policy that will fade the strike after 90~120 days of the ban and not to be traced back, like google | email me for anything urgent, message will possibly not be instantly responded
i am not really active for some reason

For everything to become a mainstream, it needs to have a strong community with many people adopting it. It is easy to open a bitcoin wallet, and use it. I personally think bitcoin will replace the current fiat currency, just need time.

Today I belive in BTC more then ever. It s obvious this economy is getting a grip and finding its place under the sun. True, maybe people who entered during the first big pump expected things to develop much faster however, you need to understand one thing, REAL investors are incredibly patient. If making money would be that easy, we would all be millionaires by now.
