Is gambling OK? Don't bet it! There's not an easy or instantly obvious proof text answer to that question.

Not a sin for someone with - 8 negative trusts from the DT. I mean what could be worst than scamming people or promoting it? As far as gambling is concerned, no God ever said don't gamble. Neither Bible mentions it. That should be convincing.

Bible does not say or mention that it's a sin, but Bible mentioned something about love of money or greed. If it's for fun or entertainment I guess it's not considered as a sin.

There is already a very long (78 pages at the moment!) thread "Gambling. Is It Wrong?" https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1166089.0 in this section. I think it is better to use it instead of creating this thread for pretty much the same topic.

Gambling is not a sin. It can become a sin however, when you lose yourself in the gambling and start to neglect yourself or the people around you.

Gambling, as long as you can control it, is just fun. The chance of winning big is what attracts everybody and makes them come back.

As long as you don't gamble to make money from gambling than it is not bad but once if you start playing for money than you will be chasing for it and in this process you can lose all your money and that will be very bad for you and your family. So gamble with self control.

Depends on your religion. This has been brought up many times. Someone had asked before if it was haram to do binary trading which is a form of gambling so yes I would say that is technically a sin. It can lead you to a path of destruction if you abuse it.

I don't think Gambling is a Sin because sim is when you are doing something wrong to others or doing something illegal but in gambling you are playing with your own money and are not doing bad to anyone else.Gambling can have other negative effects but it also have some positive effects too but it's not correct to consider it as Sin.

It is not a sin in any religion but of course is discouraged in all of them. However the rules change every couple of years so nothing is certain and might be a sin sometime but the opposite other time.

Well pretty much everything is sin anyway so what does it matter. Vegas being called sin city should give you an idea. Greed an lust for money is apparently sinning so more than likely most gamblers are sinners and it can also lead to many addictions. If it isn't a sin it should be but no doubt it is.

if you are a Muslim then gambling for sure is haram , if you are a christian I think it's ok
but the most important thing , if you are a human with a good brain you wouldn't give a damn about these things and you should think about things that make you live better life
religions have ridiculous rules when we talk about making money  Grin

Sin is an artificial construct.

There is good and there is evil but there is no such thing as sin.

Sin was invented as a mechanism of controlling and profiting from the masses via guilt.

I hereby reserve the right to sometimes be wrong

To gamble is another way of entertaining ones life if the person has a brilliant mind he will never realize it as a form of making money but gambling is somehow addictive so it is not for everyone especially with the minors but doesnt it is a kind of a sin. Just make your life away of a boredom then this is a form of doing so if you are kinda person with good self control.

It is upto the person who gambles , if he gamble the money which even if lost is not a problem for him till then he wont be thinking of this sin or not. but when he starts to lose more than what he cannot afford he will start thinking of what he has done is sin. If you do gambling in sports betting and earn little little like what you do in business you wont be thinking that you are doing sin.

I agree with this, system just wish to control people. I think people can do what ever they like, just to not hurt other people. Gambling is ok, just dont spent more then u can and everything will be ok.
I`m not a religious person so for me its jut fun to play different games I like in money, also I know that every religion have different opinion about gambling and many of them forbid it (like many other things).
Enjoy and have fun!

I don't see gambling as sin. Some people who are religious believe it is.
I see it as entertainment and fun, that's all.
There's no wrong or right here.

There are several churches in my area that have a Bingo night....some have a casino night too.  I've also seen church raffles.....etc.  The Judea Christian Bible mentions the Israelites "casting lots."  So, I don't know if gambling is a "sin" but I do know that there are quite a few churches that have no problem participating in the activity.

Well IMO it's not. I mean there are kinds of gambling and just like what was sated on Gods' book. The love of money  and other physical stuffs is the reason wh people sin. If you gamble and get addicted to it then maybe it is considered one.

I don't think the law of the Bible applies here in the first place or apply here in full , because when we're not talking about greed, but because of gambling, when you lose or win, for whatever reasons, but of course we are going to talk about the loss from the point of view of greed, but we won't talk about other necessities, for example, about the mistakes or wrong strategies, and so on, and that greed, we're talking only in the cases prior to the game, that is, where and how, for example, get the money or after the game, when we talk about the disposal of the winning and such, though I think, that came gambling, first of all, to get lucky, but not to test themselves on greed, but both are not going anywhere, though
