Its a sin without a doubt. Someone in this thread said you are playing with your own money and not doing something illegal but where are you getting your money if you win? From other persons, so both parties involved in gambling are sinners. I have quit not long time ago, but anyway I used to play just for fun,if I could find right results for the matches but have quit. Religion helps you immensely to quit it, no other alternatives.

Only religion can help you , especially strong ones like Islam in which gambling is explicitly an error (sin)

You can try all others, they will help you only temporarily, only religion will help you to quit once and for all.

This is just my opinion though and personal experience. I tried many things, self control and everything, but I kept getting back to gambling. Once I embraced religion, now I fear God thats why I stay away from gambling.

u have a good point, win other ppl's money in gamble is sinful. and i agree with u about religion, too.

win others money ? lol then why gamble when u dont want to win ?

It is not like you are forced to gamble. You sound like humans are weak creatures without their own will and intellect and can't make decision on their own - unless religion forced them to.
Gambling is not evil, you are not stealing from others - if your way of thinking was correct then - any form of investment where you are not sure of the outcome: stocks, currency trading, other types of speculation is a sin too.

I'm not a religious person, so I can't really answer if it is a sin or not. I could try to go on the ethic or moral side of the question though.

I think if it is done with caution, and you are not making any harm to your life or the life of your family and friends etc, I would see gambling just as spending money on a movie, or candy, or anything else that you might enjoy doing. So I really don't see a problem there.
Yes you could say that, that money would be better spent in helping others or anything like that, but that would go for everything else you do just for fun.

I think it all depends on the dosage. If you are just spending all of your time in fun and shallow things, then the problem is not really the gambling itself, is more like you are just being living a selfish life. If you do a little of everything then I don't really see a problem.

I think some of religion that gambling is sin but if you are catholic i think its not a sin because is just a game business for them and gambling is for fun.
I heard some other religion that it will be sin if you are greedy and make your life poor.
For now money is important to live if you choose to gamble it.. maybe you can call it sin if you lose it all because of your wrong turn.
But you can try to ask in the catholic church if this type of game are sin...

Is gambling OK? Don't bet it! There's not an easy or instantly obvious proof text answer to that question.

According to muslim muftis yes, it's a sin. Other religions are a bit more liberal. They don't call it a sin but they definitely do not recommend gambling Smiley. Outside of religions most societies see gambling as a shady thing but it's largely depends on the success factor. Big wins can justify a gambling habit Smiley.

It really depends on the religion that you follow. I do believe that most religions say gambling (or activities that have the same effect) are considered sin and should not be done. If you wish to follow those beliefs then yes, gambling is a sin. If you however are not religious then it is up to you to decide is it a sin or not. I personally believe that gambling is not a sin, its just a form of entertainment that has a risk and gain factor.

Most religions don't consider gambling a sin but its frowned upon because it can become an addiction and cause problems. Only religion that bans gambling I think is the Muslim religion along with Alcohol.

Well in some religions it is a sin to gamble, but is sex considered a thing only for reproduction.
So don't bother that. But if you are stealing money just to gamble or lending, you will be committing a sin.

A sin which is punishable btw.

People are very much aware of this, which is good. Gambling can ruin your life big time.

I would rather want to see the price stay around 400 dollars then to see such a big rise.
For me it's important that the price becomes stable now

Why isn't ir recommended? If you play for some fun or get excited.
Then by all means go ahead and have some fun.

Else don't do it. But it's not a sin mate.

Not a sin, but in fact it is a way to get some extra money.
But also lose your money. In the end it is about risk and if you can afford to lose it.

In my opinion, gambling itself is not a sin.
It just become a sin when the person who is
gambling have already become greedy or become so boastful.
But when a person who gambles knows how to control himself,
It cannot become a sin. as its just like your having fun and enjoying yourself.

Depend on each individual objective on how they react or feel against gambling.
But AFAIK when I'm learn at school, better stay away from gamble because it only make temporary fun and will make you become gambling addiction

you have 32 negatives, if that's not a sin for you then gambling is not a sin for you too

and for others, if they believe in god a lot, then i guess it's a big sin, but otherwise i don't think that it's something bad, it can be just like hobby, and if to spend money on hobby is sin then  everything should be a sin

I think sin has a different meaning to all of us.
I don't see anything wrong with gambling every now and then and just gamble for fun.
I believe that if you're not doing anyone any harm by it, you should be alright.

Yeah you are not harming anyone else but you are harming yourself by gambling, if you win, it's good but when you loose you are loosing your wealth and money, as gambling doesn't guarantee you success every time, sometime you win, some time you loose, part of gambling.

Indeed, gambling is not a sin at all in my opinion, it even can be good if I'm honest because it can give you a lot of profit and what have you done wrong when you gamble ?
In my eyes you did nothing wrong because its just a enjoying game that everyone can play and you can indeed not harm someone.
Although if you gamble and you have to take care of your family it can be considered as a little sin if you ask me.
