it's not a sin to gamble, but the people with old thinking say that gambling is bad and one should stay away from it if he want to be a good person.

its not a sin but not a good habit either.

Back when you are younger, elder people may say that we should stay away from gambling, which is a nice advice considering that one may get addicted to it and never be able to get out from it.

I agree that being greedy is even more considered as a sin. Just like the bible tells us, for the love of money is the root of all evil. And that leads us to sin, gambling is just there to give entertainment just like the other things when used it too much and we dedicated too much time to it then that leads us to sin. So being a greedy person is the real sin and not gambling alone.

But i agree on it, if we enjoy our time with gambling then how can it will be sin? But one thing is that if we are not allow for our teenagers kids to play gambling, than something is wrong in it, and not everyone get income and support family and ourself from gambling. Majority of the gamblers are losers that's why these gamblers think that gambling is a sin for them.

Bible does not say or mention that it's a sin, but Bible mentioned something about love of money or greed. If it's for fun or entertainment I guess it's not considered as a sin.

In fact, Muslims claim that it is a sin because the money you receive after you win is not your money, but your opponent's.

I do not even know why that in itself should be considered as a sin when even your opponent understands the repercussion of the game in the first place and still decided to go ahead anyway. The truth is, it depends on how each and everyone wants to see it, but like you said, it is not in anywhere considered a sin. It is your attitude towards it that can either free you or mar you as the case may be.

You should read Rinsend's answer, then you can understand what actually i said, i just reply to his answer. Otherwise, i was not using a big and difficult sentence which you can't understand, only see what he said, and then i reply him.
Although gambling is not a sin for me, but i listen to my elders that gambling is sin so be-careful it. I realize everyone said about gambling which he has a experience of it, if you have good experience from gambling, then of course gambling is not a sin for you.

Theres some religions that considered gambling is a sin.but for me it will become sin if u dont control your self to get hooked unto it,and later addicted.more gamblers loses their family and others loses lives because of uncontrollable playing.

I also know that very well but it does depend on the person that is he having self control of not, if that person is having a style control then he would not get addicted to gambling and will live happily but if he doesn't have self discipline and control then he become addicted which is pretty bad and then the person would change, he would try to do any thing to get him some cash so that he could gamble and earn some.

The truth is I have never really seen anyone who started gambling and really had something very good to say about it at the end except for those who considered it as fun and must have in a way talk themselves into it, after so many losses. However, I do not agree with your last statement. Gambling does not make you a good person and neither does it make you a bad person. It is your own attribute that counts and that attribute is what you will need to wither control your impulse when it comes to gambling or let gambling control it for you.

That's the rule, we have to live with that one rule that "never gamble what you can't afford to lose" and we will be alright.
If we based our actions on religion then we cannot really say that it's wrong or not because it always depends on individual belief, those who like to gamble and have fun will always believe that gambling is never a sin.

bring religion on this kind field i don't think it's a good idea. keep your personal faith like religion rules and something like that privately. gambling itself should be done based on your own will and full of responsibility , otherwise it could turn harmful and destructive. overall i think gambling are not something that bad , yeah i mean in general.

It is called a sin if someone violated againts the law and speaking of law from where? a law of God or the law of the government? and if we talk about gambling is a sin by the law of god i think it never be a sin, it is only a sin if you take advantage for greed or cheating your opponent. but for the law of government it is a sin if you violated againts  their written law.

Religion just want to control us. However, there is a better side on that, when they think of gambling as sin, they are preventing us from doing it.

Even without a religion, for the sake of having a good life and  for the sake of morality, we should not gamble too much. Doing it too much is the only thing that makes it dangerous to us, and too much of it will pull us back to poverty no matter how hard we try to gain money.

For me gambling is not a sin as long as you can afford it. When you gamble, make sure that the money you’re using will not affect your daily needs. Developing self-discipline is the key. Know when to give when you’ve lost enough for the night and simply come back when you have more money to spare for gambling.

I don't think gambling is a sin. It is really just for entertainment and leisure. It is people who cannot control themselves that somebody bad happens like going into debt. So, go ahead and gamble, but take care of your finances
