it is definitely a great development for bitcoin and its growth as more people come to know about this as its included into the steam platform, no doubt that bitcoin is included by popular demand but it helps in getting more exposure for sure

It's still very early, but it will not take a lot of time consider that Steam is just only going to use Bitpay as a gateway to get BTC payments accepted and possibly auto convert to USD again, so it will be pretty fast technically, ho long do they take to make the official statement is another story.

Steam will probably pilot the Bitcoin payment project within the USA and if everything is okay with the service they will expand it to other countries soon enough fingers crossed.

i agree, steam is a huge platform, almost every gamer uses steam and it adopting bitcoin will definitely lead to a higher use rate for bitcoin. would be great for the bitcoin economy.

I also heard that it's only available for US customer, so it's not really good news for bitcoiner outside US because they can't use bitcoin as payment, expect they set their residence to US, but US price usually more expensive than in other countries. But, if every steam customer from every country can pay with bitcoin. it would be great.
but that would a big start. it does not matter that they start from US because they will expand their service to other countries if it becomes successful. it will just take time. we have to be patient.

So this can mean large adaptation of bitcoin. We have many gamers that using their services? Some of them will probably will be interested when they see bitcoin as possibility of payment.

I am so glad to hear about this news and it is a good success for bitcoin as well since it is becoming popular every where around the globe and people are getting to know bitcoins more than last year.

I doubt it could mean large adoption if Bitcoin is added to Steam. Bitcoin cannot handle much more users than today, so it could be actually disaster if Steam added Bitcoin and only small part of Steam users let say about 10 million users tried to purchase games with Bitcoin. The Bitcoin Blocks would be filled all the time and not all users transactions could ever be processed! Now imagine the huge negative response: Bitcoin proved it cant work when Steam added it as payment option and half of 10 million gamers cannot get their transactions go even trough ! End of Bitcoin then?

What the hell is it with all these companies being US only? It's crazy. The whole point of accepting bitcoins is to open up to people who otherwise wouldn't be able to play.

Still can't find the BTCBTCBTC option in adding wallet funds, so I suppose it didn't happen yet. There are steam wallet codes for sale in BTCBTCBTC though, peeps might want to search for that in the meantime.

If Steam accepted bitcoin and started advertising it on their main store page, I can say without a doubt that bitcoin will shoot up. Steam has a huge userbase of cybee-geared users, which will also be great.

If Bitcoin comes to Steam in Europe this will probably be the death of me because I am already buying too many games I don't even play with cash on Steam now imagine the shopping spree I would go on if Bitcoin is involved. I have a backlog of games I need to play and no time at all. Gaben hits all the right bases with the constant discounts and holiday deals that sleazy bastard
