Hi there,
I´ve been off the scene for a while and now I´ve read a little bit about Alt-Coins with new Algorithms that make it worth again to mine with GPU´s or even just CPU´s.
So as the subject suggests, which would be the best Alt-Coin (one that´s worth it to mine again and one that could really get me some bucks...) to mine with a GPU (or CPU - depending on the Algorithms).
It would take me days to read to be up to date so I thought it would be best to place the question here on this board with people who have the needed knowledge.

At the moment, the Ethereum is the best to mine with GPU. It is the most profitable. But if the price drops, it will not be so profitable.

Ehtereum is the second largest mining coin, second only to bitcoin and bigger than litecoin. It is developed actively.

If you just want to mine and sell to make profit, it does not matter if it has any future. Although I think it is better than most coins. |

So I will mine some Ethereum. It seems it is most profitable coin to mine with my GPU at the moment. |

Feathercoin still pops up from time to time as being profitable on GPU. The community is even starting to become more active again.

google r9 280x (whaterever miner you use) config setting 280x was so common when i started two years ago. there will be so many guides. R9 280x is the same as 7970. 280 = 7950. So there are plenty of settings for the graphics cards. |

For the time being, I think Ethereum is the best coin to mine. DRED could also be a good choice for mining.

Not 100% true, Gridcoin supports CPU/GPU/ASICs and potentially sensors (if the sensor projects get whitelisted in the future). The CPU projects are GPU resistant, the GPU projects are ASIC resistant. If someone finds out how to port CPU -> GPU/ASIC or GPU -> FPGA/ASIC then scientific research will benefit greatly! If all projects somehow get ported away from CPU/GPU then we can just create new BOINC projects and whitelist them for rewards (anyone can make a BOINC project). |
