It's highly unlikely that BTC adoption is gonna be above 2% by 2020. I even thought if it's gonna be at 1%. 2 persons in every 100 must have BTC for us to even think it's possible. More merchants being convinced to accept bitcoin is definitely a step in the right direction. But it's going to be a slow process.

To be honest i don't even know how many people using bitcoin right now, are there few millions of downloaded wallets, but many people using multiple wallets. How then we can talk about numbers in future?
Can we say how many real users of bitcoin we have on this day?

There might be 100,000 people in the world use bitcoin actively. If the number is increase to 1 million, the price will be 100 times higher.

A very small percentage I believe. There are so many people that are just not interested in online currencies they just do not have times for it or think that it is to much work.

Yeah we cannot expect huge percentage of people using it, but it will be more in compare to present users, as bitcoin will become more popular over a period of time.

I've been running a poll for some time now about the value of 1 bitcoin by 2020 and it's safe to say a lot of different opinions and guesses are made.
This poll completes the other one and i'm really looking forward to everyone's input in this.

Tnx for your input  Cool

well up to 5% and not more, people thinks that everyone will know about bitcoin but sad truth that lots of people either don't know what bitcoin is, or are afraid to start using it because of how bitcoin isn't stable, this will take time, more stable bitcoin will be - more people will use bitcoin so maybe after 10more years, 10% will use it
I expect 5 to 10% people will use bitcoin in 2020 and 15 to 20% will use it in another 10 years, this is because proper awareness about bitcoin is not given to most of the countries.
Yeah not many people in the world are going to make use of Bitcoin in 2020 I believe. People are just not aware of the fact that Bitcoin exist.
So it would already impossible for them to use it.

Most likely around 30-40% of people might be aware of the digital currency, but when it comes to owning one the probabilities are very low. I believe we could see some 5-10% of the people own at least a small portion of any of the digital currency.

15% of the world population might hear about the bitcoin, but only 1% will own some bitcoin, very small amount.

It's going to be low for a long time.  Bitcoin is going to be very gradual and even when it does become more popular, there are still going to be a lot of people that don't use it.

China and India have a huge role to play in this.
If Bitcoin adoption takes off in these 2 countries, you can easily have this figure crossing 5%.

I voted for 20% and that is mainly that the current concept of bitcoin is to complicated for most people. Just look how 'big' paypal is. NOt very big compared to how long they exist.
The same applies for bitcoin and any other electronic third party service.

i think that is too high.
some percentage around 10%, more or less seems to be more realistic to me and that is still a very high number of people adopting bitcoin which will shoot the price up to the moon.

This is a short in the dark, but well,i believe the current numbers of this community is around 200k-400k ,and two things may happen bitcoin reach high value and atract more investors and users, soo the % would be around 20% ,if bitcoin dont hit higger ammounts after the halving, well it may be at 5% as people are avoiding because the bad image connected to bitcoins as some countries are taking heavy measures to dont let it become popular.

2020 is less than 3 years away. Unless something incredibly drastic occurs in the positive direction as far as bitcoin adoption, I don't see how the percentage can change significantly higher than what it is now.

What is the rate of bitcoin adoption vs the rate of people being born minus people dying?

Hopefully by then the majority of people still on earth and not on mars if Virgin intergalactic adventures has their way. I saw that they have 300-400 tickets sold.
Branson is a marketing genius for selling space exploration(habituating on another planet safely) tickets to something we won't see for another 20-30 years.  Undecided

Yeah i think 10%-25% of people in the earth own bitcoin or holding bitcoins right now.. since bitcoin is not so popular in all country but its nearly to accept some store here in my country bitcoin as payment.. if store are accepting bitcoin as payment maybe it the percentage will be increase.. because they will know what is the use of bitcoins..

China I can see more of a now moment.

India I see very little, since I dont see any form of development over there and people talking about it outside from this forum.

nobody will know how many bitcoin active users in the world but i think 100.000 is too small because currently bitcoin almost used on every country so it could be 2 million or more now and in the year 2020 might be bitcoin users will increase at least 10 million people or even more

2020 is still far, we still have few years before it came in, but anyway, I think the impact of the price this years and the halving prior to 2020 would really affect the number of users when 2020 came in, IMO, 10 - 20% would be the best when there is no growth in price and has no improvements implemented, but it would be higher if growth in price and improvements was also done...
