I said 2-5% and even that is a stretch imho. That's still what, 140-350million people? (Assuming 7billion people wordwide). That's way more than we have now (again, assuming. It's hard to tell how many bitcoins users there really are) so there would have to be a huge influx of people starting to use bitcoins.

I vote 40-50 percent. I vote it because I believe in bitcoin growth in the next four years will be very large. I feel the progress bitcoin, is now beginning there was some bitcoin adoption in various regions. It will be very affect the development of bitcoin so would push people to use bitcoin.
well we both believe in bitcoin and all the benefits it can give but I think 4 years would be too short a time for most people even be aware and have access to bitcoin much more to own it. there are some countries that have limited online access and we all know that bitcoin is an online currency. more people would be using it after 4 years that's for sure but I don't think it would be almost half the earth's population I think not, I think the rise in bitcoin users had happen earlier in the year ago. So the next 4 years was enough time to reach people using bitcoin. In the future price of bitcoin will be good even continue to increase, so will make people to use bitcoin. Moreover, a few months of the many factors that make bitcoin prices continue to rise so that the rising prices can affect people so interested in bitcoin, and this will definitely affect the future. It always depends if the government will not intervene with bitcoin, if they see that businesses like payment processors online are losing because of bitcoin they might take their power to ban bitcoin, the fact that we are making money here and we are not paying taxes, there's a big amount of money being lost from the government. Yes it looks like you're right, it had never occurred to me. Government action will also affect the future development of bitcoin. Seeing now that many governments refuse bitcoin so would hamper future developments. You're right, man. I've never thought about it.

If there are 300 Mn people owning bitcoin, each one on an average will have less than 0.1 bitcoin. You can imagine what that will do to the price. That will be a moon shot. I don't think that will happen as soon as 2020.

I don't think we can reach that mark in just 4 or 3 years, 3 because this year is almost finished so there are 3 more years to 2020, because bitcoin has been around for almost 7 or 8 years now and still there are very less people using bitcoin, though we are not confirmed how many they are in number but still we can do an estimate and know that they are not really a lot, so if we can reach the mark you said then it would really be a great achievement for bitcoin.

I've been running a poll for some time now about the value of 1 bitcoin by 2020 and it's safe to say a lot of different opinions and guesses are made. This poll completes the other one and i'm really looking forward to everyone's input in this. Tnx for your input We don't know the number of people who are using bitcoin this year so we can't estimate the correct number after 3 years in 2020. But approximately after 3 year I expect that the number of people using bitcoin to be at least twice as it is now, this is depended from many factors and the trend of new businesses operating in bitcoin.

And that is just the average, since there are many business like casinos and exchanges who have lots of bitcoin, even governments like the U.S. government have lots of bitcoin because of raids, so the average person should expect to hold even less than that.

I think that it will be slightly greater than 2% just because of the law of increasing returns, ;p if you have 100 people each tell one person thats 100 if those people tell one more person and etc.
i think in 2020 the number of bitcoin users will be much more that 2 percent, as the popularity of bitcoin is increasing so rapidly, people are adopting bitcoin in a big scale and bitcoin is continuously facilitating people in different area and their for the confident level of the people is increasing and hope that very soon the majority of the people will be using bitcoin.

I think you are over estimating how successful bitcoin will be. I don't think people will want to wait 10 minutes for their payment to reach one confirmation. This is not viable for people paying in stores. I think a new cryptocoin is necessary for global adoption by the average nontech person. I agree with you that bitcoin has a bright future.

Countries can do whatever they wanna to kill bitcoin, it wont happen, dont you think they had tryed as well some know companies to end something when it were at begining; Bitcoin is going to make 8 years online, and its impossible to destroy it, atleast looks like, bring heavy taxes to bitcoin or any tax will result in the general people dont expose their portfolio, imagine a person holding 500btc have to pay a fee and be exposed to any hacker steal the information, the huge risks those person would be taking doing such. The people what will hold bitcoin its the same as play at lotery, its 4 years and there are several projects that can change fast the numbers like the megaupload, that should increase a lot the new bitcoin holders numbers.

I put 2-5 % but then I realized I was thinking 2030. In three years the only way 5% realistically would be using BTC worldwide is a fiat crash of some major country. Seems likely BTC (or some crypto currency) could make 5% in a dozen years!

The percentage is going to be low and stay low for a long time. Even if bitcoin becomes more mainstream, there are still many poor countries where people don't have access to computers or cell phones. Also many people will not trust bitcoin enough to put money into it.

Well, I know it's low but at still we know we are increasing, we cannot get the half of the population as bitcoin can be complicated for majority of people.

Agree that the percentage was increasing very low but we can see the progress of bitcoin because of our continuous using this currency and also day by day we know that there are more people continuous adopting bitcoin for their new money transaction.

But you must understand there are also limitations to that especially because bitcoin can be difficult to people to accept, for example I have been unable to get a single one of my friends to open a bitcoin wallet and to use bitcoin, and I have some who are avid gamers and could have benefited by the cheaper prices on games given in the forum, Yeah i think that would also be a major factor. Having people educated about the benefits of bitcoin. Even here where i am, people are a bit pessimistic when i tell them about bitcoin basically because it's the first time they've heard about it. For sure by 2020, more people would have heard or known bitcoin but then there's also the factor of online accessibilty. A large percentage of people around the world still doesn't have or very limited internet access. So yeah for me 5% would already be a big amount for people who OWN bitcoin by 2020

If we assuming 140-350 Million and everyone at least have BTC0.05, the price should be more than $1000 at 2020 for sure. It's funny as we expected and speculated bitcoin prices would be reach that price ($1K) in mid 2017, hopefully.

The good new is we don't need every single person in the world to accept bitcoin as long as that number reaches a big enough number, businesses will have no other option but to begin accept bitcoin.

first of all the percentage of bitcoin is not going to low but every day it is increasing more and more and those people who know about bitcoin will not take much time to trust on it because it is already used by a number of big companies so they will trust on it because of it and the poor countries will also one day adopt it when it flourish.

I am hopeful that the price bitcoin is going to cross 1000USD at the very start of 2017. I am also helpful that this time bitcoin is going to cross its all time high price levels. I think bitcoin still need to be introduced to more number of new people as still a large number of people do not know about bitcoins that is the big reason bitcoin prices still struggling under $1000 levels itself.
