I too agree with the fact that bitcoin is an active currency and should be seriously and actively used to buy things online and offline rather than a being stored for some bump and dump holding strategy.
I hold most of my bitcoin and also use a small percentage of the coin to buy things. I believe by doing that, I help the community. |

that's depend on the people who hold bitcoin,you can't forcing people to buy things when they want to save it for investment purpose, even a fiat just like dollar,some people do store it when the price goes down,bitcoin is waayy better than altcoin because most of altcoin just being used for trading instead of buying something |

Bitcoins will be hold by most users. Everyone holds to get a good price for their earned bitcoins. So storing of bitcoins without circulating it for a long time won't make a huge difference in price. So, storing of bitcoin can't be considered against bitcoin.

well nothing stop me to use bitcoin to make more bitcoin and because of this have more in the cold storage so you see, we can have both at the same time using and storing, this whole thread argument is moot |

There are not many places I can spend my bitcoin. For example, I cannot use it in my supermarkets. So I store most of the coins.

It can be the origin of capital loss. Could be for several reasons : ~ People yolo investing hoping for quick profits. These people mostly end up losing big time. ~ Bitcoin will eventually turn out to be replaced by something better, which is very unlikely. But if the chance is even 0.01% it still is a possibility. Other than that, if you know what you do you have nothing to worry about. |

There are not troubles with debit card I have, I just use Bitcoins to show support. And it is not more expensive because my average buy Bitcoin price is less than the price when I spend. Also the 3% credit card processors take is priced out of every of their customers, so the less the people going to use credit/debit cards, the cheaper the products/services can be (-2%) |

I don't spend them randomly and I won't spend them unless I find a decent reason to do so, If a store is offering discounted rates for these kind of BTC users then I would spend them but won't spend them just for the sake of spending.

You could always do both. Put some round amount in cold wallet and actively use the rest. Biggest problem is not many people have any sort Bitcoin earnings, that's currently the biggest obstacle in BTC adoption and it's use as currency. This is exactly what I do. I have a cold wallet on flash drives that my signature campaigns pay into, and then I have my normal wallet that I trade and spend with on my normal HDD. Best way to do it IMO. I can save in the hope of one day reaching one Bitcoin, whilst still having a little to mess about with. I hope to one day just open my savings and see a big 1 at the front of my balance  |

Yes, storing bitcoin makes it's self promoting ways to get fade away. But the real needed thing is most of the people should use bitcoin with same intentions without hitting exchanges for selling it. Using bitcoins can be anything and anywhere including selling at exchange. But I feel, storing bitcoin is better help to bitcoin ecosystem than hitting exchange. |

Storing bitcoins is somewhat against the concept of bitcoin as a currency but still saving money is not a bad thing, also it should not be spent on anything and should be spent on a good or item of decent value..

of course it is not a bad thing for all the people who are saving bitcoins though it is created to be used not to be stored in some kind of a deep cold storage that will be dumped after a significant price increase |
