So wait, should we be sure to have all our XRB off exchanges and in our local wallet by 0000 UTC if we want both coins?  Has Bitgrail given word on which version of XRB they will support?  I'm still confused as to which version of XRB is the "official" version.

XRB (raiblocks.net) will close distribution

Fork coin (raiblockscommunity.net) will continue distribution

raiblockscommunity.net redirects to raiblocks.net, adding to the confusion.

how can investors of xrb get the keys to the new chain? what is the fork date?

will the XRB exchanges bitgrail etc support the new coin?
if we have XRB in the exchanges, will we get the new forked coin as well?

please add more clarity on the fork as it is causing a lot of confusion at the moment

I don't really understand how to claim some XRB tokens by solving the captchas. Have tried it several times, but never received any tokens.

Could someone please try to explain that?

You have to reach the current threshold in order to receive your XRB.

Great decision to end the faucet. Price reflects this. What is the talk about a fork though?. I have my RAI on bitgrail. Is it ok to leave them there ?

They also added Cardano (ADA).
I heard they had legislation problems in the US that caused them to add very few new coins.

If I leave my xrb on Mercatox will I also get the forked coins?

Declining the decision to stop the distribution (and in full respect of a democratic development), a fork is on the way, more details will be posted next days.

The fork isn't something against XRB, just a different vision with continued distribution.

mikerow, drizzt

what does this mean? can someone explain? HAHA
We’re making preparations to turn off the faucet claims page in order to end the RaiBlocks distribution at 0000UTC on 17th Oct.  We’re proud our distribution method has introduced so many to cryptocurrency and we’re looking forward to seeing people’s ideas and projects as we push forward.

We’re going to let the payout script run for a few more days to pay out those who were close to the threshold then disable that script as well.  At that point we’re going to send 7,000,000 xrb from the genesis account to an account reserved for development funds and send the remaining to the burn account removing it from circulation.

We’ve received nothing but positive feedback on the technology of RaiBlocks: instant/free transactions.  This is everything people have wanted in a cryptocurrency for the last decade and we’re looking forward to what the next year will bring.

Does the distribution mean that if you have XRB you will get some? or get some units on the new coin?

The price of coin is still low. Any news about online shop where we can use XRB to buy products, is already launched or when will be launched?

What means a fork? There will be two coins, one new and old one or there will be only old XRB coins? If there will be new coin they can be traded at bitgrail?

raiblockscommunity.net redirects to raiblocks.net, adding to the confusion.

so raiblockscommunity.net will be the fork site (supported by mikerow, drizzt)
what name will this forked XRB be called now?
what's the fate of users using RaiWalletBot & YapRai? which XRB fork these wallets will support
too many questions, so little information I can find to understand the current situation  Undecided
last... should I move my balance to RaiWallet (own key) to secure my position on both forks?

Every service will continue to serve XRB. The other coin will need to find new services.
The new coin, if ever made, will most likely be a re-launch, not a fork. So new chain that starts from block zero (you won't get both coins).

XRB (raiblocks.net) will close distribution

Fork coin (raiblockscommunity.net) will continue distribution
There can hardly be a fork of XRB with continued distribution, if Collin (Dev) still holds control over private keys of genesis & distribution wallets (and he decided to stop distro and burn the rest). If this is still true, only Collin can either burn or continue distribution of original XRB - no one else can.

Ergo, if @raiblockscommunity group decides to continue faucet distro model, they will need to start the new chain with new genesis block.

Uh, no.  They can fork just like BTC and BitcoinCash forked.  They just split off into two chains.

Uh, no.  They can fork just like BTC and BitcoinCash forked.  They just split off into two chains.
Mate, it is not similar to BTC/BCC. BTC/BCC creates new coins in each new block (genesis tx/block). So if BTC forks, two new chains (BTC) + (BCC) have both ability to create new coins in each consecutive block.

XRB had all coins already created in genesis block, they were under control of the dev (Collin) and were distributed gradually to the faucet, through which XRB was distributed. So - if all remaining XRB coins are still under control of Collin, then no one other than Collin can continue XRB distribution via faucet. Ergo, unless Collin gave control of XRB to @raiblockcommunity group (which wants a fork), this group simply has no more XRB to distribute. They can only create new copy of original XRB incl. new genesis block and then, they can distribute this new coin.
