They come from the initial supply. Whatever you invest in day one, will be logged into your account with the added bonus. For instance, if you invest 1 BTC in the first day, it'll be logged as 1.2BTC, and you'll get the amount of Waves equal to that amount.

Only time will tell - don't invest just to make a quick buck - read up on the project and if you like what they are doing invest cause of that - profit is just a bonus.
