Latest - "So far it seams that hackers ETH are locked in that child DAO contract and can't just be sent anywhere else and dumped."

Hopefully that is true and judging by the bounce back, it is.

But in 20-30 days, they will be moveable lol.
The pullback is done by guys who didnt hear the news yet.

I guess they will just be DAO voted against or some sort of "hack" done to make it zero chance.

BTC = Black Swan.
BTC = Antifragile - "Some things benefit from shocks; they thrive and grow when exposed to volatility, randomness, disorder, and stressors and love adventure, risk, and uncertainty. Robust is not the opposite of fragile.

Quote
The Ethereum Foundation has published its statement and a description of
the solution.
In summary, a hardfork will retrieve all stolen funds from the attacker.
If you have purchased DAO tokens, you will be transferred to a smart
contract where you can only retrieve funds. Since no money in the DAO
was ever spent, nothing was lost.

My faith in ETH is now gone once for all.
Every time a shitty programmed smart contract blows, they gonna hit the reset button?

What a shame. This is not "decentralized".

And now Ethereum does a hard-fork to fix this mess. In my eyes this is a horrible precedence: when will ETH press the reset button the next time? When some whale loses big time due to a wrong speculation?

No matter what they tell you its the ETH chain. Millions and millions of $ and they cant even provide a decent working wallet never mind the security.
Its really quite disgusting. That's a lot of money people are losing, particularly the small guys.

ETH is by design hackable, and is by design resettable.

when is a hack a hack and when is a hack the pretext for a reset? who can say, and therefore ETH and The DAO are dead as trustless counterparty platforms. this is far far worse than the stranglehold a few Chinese mining concerns have over bitcoin.
