So. Electric cars are gaining in popularity, therefore the popularity of gasoline will be going down. Won't the price go down, leaving the oil industry in trouble?
At the moment, i think that it will not affect the oil industry directly, but producing, for example, a Tesla car pollutes more the environment comparing to other vehicles. Electric cars are bad for the oil industry in some ways but will they make oil industry disappear i dont think so because not everyone wants to ride a electric car like me i dont like it at all.

Those in the oil industry must know that they are working with a finite resource, however the price will fluctuate wildly but the long term trend is up. It's just whether all the current systems that run on oil can be converted to other power sources before it runs out. Oil will be fine for a while, it's in a glut right now but that can tighten right up any day.
Electric cars are not directly bad for the oil industry because there will not be a moment where everybody is buying electric cars you know there will always be people who are using normal benzine cars.

As long as something needs oil to be produced, I don't think that electric cars will be bad for the oil industry.

I don't think majority will not buy electric cars when they see that electric cars are more efficient to use, and when that time comes there will be a wide market for electric cars which would make the price affordable to the masses.

Yeah at the moment people are choosing for a car that runs on gasoline but I do think that this is going to change in the future. People are going to change and when it becomes less expensive to purchase a electric car much more are going to be sold.

Knowing that electric cars will be the future, the current companies selling their products to the cars will invest into the gree energy, soo in the end they will keep rulling the market of energy being electric or oil.

Some of these companies (mostly oil industry) cannot shift their activity, because it would send a signal that they don't trust what they are producing. What would you think if BP invested in solar energy ?

It is probably going to happen like this,if electric car will be more handful, cheaper and more popular than the regular ones. The problem is that oil companies are trying to stop electic car's revolution to not lose their profits, what makes some kind of war between car companies.

yes, electric car are bad for the oil industry, the major oil companies greatly underestimate the impact electric vehicles will have on their market, That’s good news because greenhouse gas emissions from transportation are growing faster than in any other sector in the U.S. and account for about 30 percent of the total. A major shift to electrified vehicles in the transportation sector is necessary to give us a fighting chance to meet our climate goals.
Yet, just as EVs are poised for growth, oil industry interests are sharpening their knives. Energy companies, including Koch Industries, are increasing their public opposition to electric vehicles because they are realizing the significant potential impacts of EVs on oil demand.

Don't forget heating or large machines such as used in the military. Especially ships, jets, helicopters and tanks consume a lot of fuel. 1/3 of the energy consumption in the states is due the military. Of course electric motors will change that but technology is not far enough yet.

No, it helps to limit the numbers of oil products need to used, also electric cars will help to our nature to lessen the pollution in the nation, moreover the oil prize will be down and it helps to the people to lessen their expenses. many of the people were avail the small prize.

I guess yes because there would be less demand for oil but electric cars are still an expensive thing and most countries in the world are not rich enough to adopt them on a wide scale. maybe in the near future when it became cheaper the consumers would choose to have ev.

Of course they are, oil is going nowhere in the long run.
Yeah in the long run it is going to hurt them but the oil industry is already making enough money right now so if that is going to change in the future they should not complain. And oil is always going to be needed so it is not like they are going to be out of business.

I really doubt this is the case, do you have any source ? The US military use 3.3% of USA GDP, it seems difficult to use this much energy when you have such percentage of GDP as budget.

Oh, I really hope it will. Of course, troubles in oil industry will probably cause serious troubles in global economy. But after all, something should motivate people use alternative energy sources and stop sucking resources off our planet.

To certain extent oil industry gets affected by the electric cars, but sure they will be having alternate solutions. Both electric as well oil cars both have advantages and disadvantages. So something which reduces the disadvantages mostly the pollution needs to be given preference unlike the profit or loss.
I think there will be no solution in the oil and electricity. if you want to reduce pollution and global warming then you have to leave fossil fuels and switch to electric car
