As the title say, what is the proper way to teach someone about what is Bitcoin?

Bitcoin is such an ethereal, abstract concept that it's always quite difficult to explain to average people

I mean, how do you explain to an everyday average human being that the Blockchain has made it possible for decentralised, autonomous corporations to exist?

How do you explain that, right now, all over the world, there are individuals who are using their GPU's to literally MINE THE INTERNET itself for digital assets that are convertible into any fiat currency?

How do you explain to the average joe that, because of the Blockchain, he now has the exact same power as any central bank in the word to CREATE and initiate value out of thin air?

How do you explain that, because of the blockchain, one day, the washing machine in your kitchen is going to be fitted with a CPU allowing it to run software that will allow it to communicate with other machines via the blockchain.. which will allow this washing machine to detect when it has run out of detergent... place an order for a refill... and then PAY for that refill - with money that it has mined all by itself. How do you explain that to the average Joe?

What will the average Joe think of you when you tell him that, one day, his household appliances, machines and devices will be able to contribute to paying household bills with money that they have generated themselves? Cheesy

There is no way to "explain" bitcoin to the average Joe. You have to SHOW them the power of bitcoin and unless you are engaged in sophisticated development on the blockchain, then maybe you also are yet to realise the true power of the blockchain and need to be "taught." I feel strongly that 90% of the bitcoin community aren't 100% aware of the true capability of this protocol, which is why most people struggle to explain bitcoin to their peers

You have just put in words what I've been thinking for weeks and just couldn't sum up. Thank you.

People first need to understand the evils of the fiat alternatives, before they will know what improvements Bitcoin has introduced. They need to know that WE cannot trust a centralized organization with

your wealth. They should know what level of manipulation are happening in the fiat system to control people's finances. They should know that we are on a downward spiral with the way the current

system are functioning. {Printing money like toilet paper} Only then will they appreciate the advantages Bitcoin bring to them....  Wink

First, you tell him about what is the function of Bitcoin or what can you do with Bitcoin. And after you tell all of it, you can start to teach him about how the system works.

I'm right in my opinion is probably tell what it is and what its uses bitcoin, then teach how to obtain bitcoin. That might make the person understand. If you do not practice right away when we're using bitcoin and seen by him and then told him to ask about things he does not understand. For sure how it would work and over time he'll understand about bitcoin.

In my opinion you cant teach them fully what bitcoin is .They have to know it by their own , just introduce them to bitcoin wallet and bitcoin faucets . THen they will learn by their own .Thats what i did to my friends

Here are some questions also:

1. Who are those people that you will teach?
2. Do they have some background in computers or internet?
3. Do they have knowledge in money online or they are living in rural place where there is not enough signals.

We need to answer those questions too to fill up the answers on how to teach them.
Remember not all countries have the advanced technology and not all people know about computers. Some dont even know how to use it.

If you re teaching someone who cant be reach via internet then there is no point in teaching them it would be easy to teach someone who is able to get to an internet and know how to use internet.

As the title say, what is the proper way to teach someone about what is Bitcoin?
Tell them what bitcoin is this exactly, about of the awesome vision of the future with decentralized currency without control of government.
Tell them of every pros of almost instant and almost zero fee transactions. Ease of storing and using BTC etc.

But don't try to force them to buy bitcoin, price volatility is something that can be problematic to people used to 'stability' of FIAT.
In case BTC price would go down you will be to blame, so stay away from troubles.

Well i think that the best way to help someone learn about bitcoin is probably to make a website with all the information on it or start a Bitcoin chat so that you and the person will be able to communicate about bitcoin.

The best way to teach someone about bitcoin is to make them use it.

I usually start with how its not some evil currency that drug dealers and
terrorists use.

Then go into how it works and what the benefits are.

If they seem interested I will answer more questions or tell them to sign up here
on this site.

I believe its not simple to teach about bitcoin. Understand the interest of the people and initially start with the innovator satoshi. Then automatically they will learn with the name Satoshi through internet.

The first I would advise him to know the basic fundamentals about bitcoin, by searching on google or on this board.
then if they already understand about the basic bitcoin, I will teach another thing.

As the title say, what is the proper way to teach someone about what is Bitcoin?
It depends on the culture and educational background of a person you want to explain bitcoin to.An educated person can simply be directed to wikipedia page of bitcoin or can be explained in details.Explaining to an uneducated is a tricky part and involves some innovative ways on your part
