well guys, that's what the donation address is for, sorry but i don't have the funds to just put in for everything.

As indicated by the third post in this thread, 0.5 btc was used to pay for the wallet update, of which I paid half of out of my own pocket, and the other was from snachmonkey.

I will donate more into the donation address as I can myself, but help would be appreciated as its for us all.

and as for the comment from someone above about not paying for Yobit well if that someone would be gracious enough to donate a little then there could have been a paid request, as the first initial payment for listing on Yobit is 0.1 btc and the next is 0.5 btc its not alot really, wouldn't burst the bank if everybody contributed a little.

here is Yobits listing info.

To add a new coin to Yobit please you need to fill out the form below.
Payment method: YobiCode
Listing type:
• Free - 0.00 btc - no guarantee
• Premium - 0.1 btc - 2 business day
• Exclusive - 0.5 btc - 1 business day + mail alert to all users

The last option sounds good to me if we could gather up the funds, as it will alert their userbase to the fact we exist.

The 3 BTC is not required. We can give it a shot, but I don't feel confident in writing up the package to Bittrex myself. A collaboration would be best.

I'm testing out the opensource piWallet as a web-wallet for ARG, it has Google Auth 2FA built in, its pretty simplistic but, it does the job.
A rework of the layout for the UI may be in order to make it our own.

If anyone is interested please PM me and I'll see about getting it up.

Just covering all bases just now, in the future we will look at the possibilities of mobile wallet/clients.

Cryptopia is a nice exchange. I wonder when the coin request was submitted, and if they have ARGs updated information.

I'm sure they will do a thorough search of Bitcointalk anyway.

I really ought to put a contact address on the website really, but then they will be able to PM us on here if needs be.

I wonder how long it will take for them to activate it.

I submitted Arg on Cryptopia, it was quite a while ago so before the updates client etc. but they seem to have everything running nicely. I can't claim responsibility for all the paid votes though, I did a few but nowhere near enough for a win. Well done whoever it was!

Hi just to let you all know there is an #ARGCurrency IRC channel on FreeNode.

My reasoning for this is that the DGC IRC Channel is as dead as can be, and Argentum followers should have their own place to discuss all things ARG.

So if you are an Argentum enthusiast come on over to #ARGCurrency Channel on FreeNode: https://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=#ARGCurrency

Its quiet in there just now, but hopefully as things pick up so will our community come together again.

Argentum Died!...

Argentum Lives again !!!

UPDATED WALLET

Why revive a coin such as Argentum you may well ask, well when i was asked to add ARG to a site, i found that the Argentum had really faltered after Crypty's .... Lets say misfortune. Argentum was only listed there in the end and it tipped the balance into oblivion.

I thought it was a shame that a coin should just die like that, and wanted to give it another chance.
to this end Argentum is once more online, minable and trade-able,

I wish to bring this coin up to date and bring some functionality to it in the end.

Argentum was created mid 2013 with the following criteria:

Quote
Argentum is fast, unique, and secure. We have learned from many of the past crypto-currencies and created one that can rival any. Argentum brings innovation and experimentation by combining interesting aspects of other crypto-currencies and adding unique features.

Argentum is designed to gain value over time and to be a rare commodity that is easily and quickly transferable. The innovation doesn't end there, Argentum is the first crypto-currency to increase transaction processing capabilities over those of bitcoin. With the Bank of Argentum, the ARG/DGC exchange, and other commodity related services on the way, there is a bright future for this coin.

Argentum is secure, rare, and unique. The combination of all its characteristics provide a:
1. Longterm stable investment
2. Growth potential based on services
3. Diversification into less risky crypto-currency
4. Secure quasi-instantaneous transaction processing
Taken from the most active ARG BitcoinTalk threads here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=259436.msg2767706#msg2767706 & https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=231524.0.

The original info is mostly defunct on those threads, hence this new ANN
Also in the very earliest original launch thread from the original developer AlphaC, there would seem to have been some kind of pre-mine which was used to pay for services rendered to Baritus. So for clarity I will state that there was a historical pre-mine at the beginning of what seems to have been around 200,000 ARG.

This pre-mine now will no longer matter as there would seem to be in the regions of over 3.5 million ARG locked in accounts that may be lost to the original holders.

We will move on from the past in a New Beginning for Argentum, eventually cutting ties with the original incarnation.

Specifications

General
Scrypt
Optimized client: The Argentum client is tightly coupled with the blockchain. You won't see it randomly hop on another as some others do.

Blocks
Maximum block size increased to 10mb
Maximum signature operations per block maximum increased to 100k
32 Second block time

The first two features are on the bitcoin hardfork wishlist. We wanted to create the first cryptographic currency with almost unlimited scalability. The signature operations per block were not increased as much as block size because it is unnecessary and theoretically unreachable as is. These capacity increases do not affect performance and only serve as a guarantee of the network's future capacity. The actual size of blocks and transactions is the minimum amount needed to accomplish the task.

Difficulty
[DGW v3] DarkGravityWell v3 Difficulty adjustment

Currency Creation
64 million total ARG: Constant creation is the best way to balance between miner incentives, rarity, and fairness.

Block Reward
Random from 1-5.
Random block rewards: Rewards are not completely random but deterministic random. Argentum uses the last block hash as a seed to generate a "random" number. The same number always results from a given seed so the network will stay synced.

Security
Mined blocks mature after 30 confirms: Argentum is a fast currency but it does not compromise the safety of the blockchain in the process. The 30 confirms also serve as a cool down period for newly mined Argentum.

Ports
Listen port: 13580
RPC PORT: 13581

Development
Development will be dictated by the community and put to a poll for voting, so any suggestions will be welcome.
For now though, updating the wallet to a more recent core version will take priority. A new website will possibly also be on the cards.

This project was taken over from the original developer Baritus and Alpha.before him.

Grin the more hash the better

just had a thought? Are we the first coin to really come back from the dead?

i mean, ARG really died, the only reason i got it back up was because there was still a block explorer running, every other node had gone.

The DGC community had given up on it, even the guys on the DGC irc channel werent even interested anymore. hence the new dedicated irc channel.

anyway, if ever there was a time to mine its now.  Smiley

Honestly i've did some mining yesterday on my pool and it's still pretty profitable. Sold coins with default market prices; was a good and easy 250000 satoshi. Can be easyly x4 more BTC with some market wakeup.

Could the owners of these three wallets, please update them to the latest Client version.
You will most probably be on a forked blockchain.
