It actually means that once the coin is dropped on Bitcointalk, money is being generated out of air.

This thread is great, thanks for doing this. Hopefully some new altcoin creator sees the success that's being so far OnionCoin and might use the same system, fingers crossed

Thank you for this thread, I will wait for patiently for more airdrops. I dont think would hurt if u join the airdrops right? And yeah I wonder when I'll become a jr, member so that I can join the airdrops because most of airdrops check the your rank of bitcointalk.
Well, getting something for free can't hurt, unless you get malware in the process. Wallet-stealing malware is getting more sophisticated, too. I have a dedicated throwaway machine to download new wallets and collect airdrops. If I didn't have that, I wouldn't participate in a lot of them, because I simply can't risk potential malware stealing my bitcoins.

Although that might be kind of true, there’s people that are wanting to spend their Bitcoins for that Altcoin so money is not really being created in thin air. If money was created in thin air then there wouldn’t be any point for Bitcoin. Investors have a choice to spend their money on a new coin that they want to purchase, if they didn’t want to spend their money on the coin then there wouldn’t be any coins left for them to sell for Bitcoin or any other Altcoin. Some of the coins that are out right now aren’t worth investing in.

I really like the concept of airdrops, after seeing so many ICOs going into the 100s of millions, with corporations being the ones investing. This is more of a community thing.

Just be careful if you need to download stuff. Always double check everything, you never know what is hidden inside the download files.
Unfortunately, most people aren't technical and simply don't know what to look for. People need to start developing a sense for scammers and fly-by-night projects. It's usually best to let some other people be the guinea pigs too, when it comes to downloading potential malware (altcoin wallets). If a project sticks around the forums for a little while and has anyone relatively reputable associated with it, then I'm willing to look into it further. With the price rise being what it is, I know there is no shortage of hackers out to steal coins.

I usually have one vm running for each wallet I download. And one vm for the trusted wallet. Everywhere they throw coins at you and you need to download the wallet to get them.. But you never know what's inside.

Check out DeepOnoin: https://deeponion.org/apply.php There are weekly airdrops for Jr. Members for 40 weeks. 6 Airdrops were already deployed but 34 are still coming.

Yep, the best way to deal with the malware risk is to use virtual machines. I actually use virtual machines on a throwaway PC that doesn't have any bitcoins stored on it. Most malware is only looking for bitcoin and ether wallets anyway. You can't be too careful when it comes to this stuff. Check out DeepOnoin: https://deeponion.org/apply.php There are weekly airdrops for Jr. Members for 40 weeks. 6 Airdrops were already deployed but 34 are still coming. They're not real airdrops. It's a signature campaign (bounty). Which is fine, but this thread is about airdrops.

But being or becoming a bit more technical may help if you are in crypto. So using vm as suggested by supertee, that is not very complex to do, is the best way to go.

Thank you, Its very sade that most airdrops are only for members with junior or higher status. So we miss a lot of airdrops.
It doesn't take much time to reach jr status and from there you can slowly walk towards top. Money is not free.

Just be active on here, you can post alteast once a day and once your activity will grow your account will rank up. You need atleast 30 acitivity points to be a junior member so post daily on here and in 30 days your rank will eventually go up. If you want to know more about ranks you can visit this thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=178608.0
