WTB 10 000 GigaIotas for 10 btc  Wink
Or smaller amounts at a rate for 0.001 btc/ GigaIota

If we come to an agreement, we can do the IOTA <> Bitcoin transfer as soon as Iota is stable and its sure that a role back is not going to happen again.

We should maybe all use GigaIotas (GI) for trading here. Giga or Mega will most likely be used by the exchanges I would guess.

How do you calculate how much GI your Iotas are: "your Iotas" / 1 000 000 000
Put that in a calculator and you will get your balance in GI Wink

By the way, the total supply of iota is 2779530283277761. In GigaIotas that  is 2 779 530.28328
So a total supply of around 2.8 million GI Wink

Yes, we should all use the SI prefixes.

10^15    peta  P
10^12    tera  T
10^9    giga  G
10^6    mega  M
10^3    kilo  k
10^2    hecto  h
10^1    deka  da

When you say 2.8 million GI, you are mixing a long/short scale word with the SI prefix.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long_and_short_scales
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metric_prefix

The total supply is 2779530283277761 iotas = 2.779530283277761 petaiotas  ~= 2.77 PI

newbie question: im interested in purchasing some IOTA, where will i store them. online wallet?
You can on the beta wallet. Right now the network is suspended but it will come back soon.
You will be able to create an account. The password you chose determine your iota address. It's a brain wallet.
Is there any plans for a web wallet?

I don't think so but it will be easy to do once the wallet is 1.0

where can i download the beta wallet?

Find the last beta wallet somewhere in the discussion here : http://chat.iotatoken.com/channel/iotatesting
Or look on different IOTA threads if someone posted the link. Be careful about who is posting the link.

So 1 Giota is how many old IOTA?

Good question.
1 old IOTA = 0.00277952 Giota
1 Giota = 359.7730552 old IOTA

I think that more information and/or reminders need to be shared officially and in a coordinated manner from all now ...I say this because the majority of posts in this thread and in the ANN thread now are mainly either:
--
ppl wanting to know when the main-net will be up and stable
OR
non official talk about 'it's coming soon'
---
and the only official talk coming is 'please test' and 'please start projects, start promoting, donate to foundation' and everything is in the hands of the community now - That's an understandable pov, however, I also think that this is also being communicated a bit poorly maybe under the assumption that everyone will understand/know what to do. Let's be real..there are some just here to turn a profit or just to build projects.. and the fact is we need both persona types. However if little information is shared then people can't promote effectively nor can they build projects..the tangle is still something many devs would need to wrap their head around.

I'm not a crypto dev but I've been doing my part with testing and talking to people about it in my region but where I'm from it's to much to wrap their heads around...generally it's probably years behind IoT progression. It's extremely hard to get bitcoin here far less for any other crypto technology to adopt in businesses etc..I only have a tiny portion of IOTA and still pledged. All that to say that I'm still trying to do my part. I want to see this succeed and add technology value..not only monetary value.

A few suggestions:

-Email to the mailing list as mentioned in my other post above.
-Setup the foundation and deal addresses even though we're still in beta..hopefully we won't have to rollback/repeat those txns - We don't need pledges now..we need real actionable IOTA transfers to accounts towards these goals.
-Try a shorter term positive reinforcement strategy..e.g inform us of a small bit of not so cryptic info of plans/easter eggs/whatever and the only way we can hear the next piece of nugget info is for the community to do X or Y in Z timeframe -- for instance 200k txns = info nugget 1, 500 txns = info nugget 2 etc. It can hopefully psychologically increase urgency to the situation.

I could be wrong but maybe those things might help..

Let's not get stuck in a chicken/egg scenario here..we can all do this together Cheesy

I have to agree Sad

My complaint at this moment is, specifically, being emotionally blackmailed into "testing" (or else there will be no coin launch), but not having enough information in order to allow me to do anything useful.... As if everyone here (investors) are hackers... at least, I am not, and it is not so simple for me to download a bunch of weird files and start testing the network in order to see it eventually launched on exchanges...

It is NOT easy to receive help for a newbie who decides to try to help as demanded in necessary exchange for a coin launch...

I will not even talk about the conditioning the successful launch to donations or big deals... because I hold so little IOTA, anyway, so I could not donate enough to fulfill their desire for donations, while I see a huge amount of IOTA being negotiated by, obvious, large holders...

Sorry to disturb, but I had to give my support to wesgen as I saw him being ignored here, and I know he is not wrong in his complaints...

You will get support for testing if you join http://chat.iotatoken.com/channel/iotatesting

Note that currently we are waiting for version 0.9.4 to start testing again.
Also I will write a detailed guide how to help with testing once 0.9.4 is released.

Did someone just say they were blackmailed for being asked to test the software they bought? Is this real life? You bought Internet-of-Things tech but can't even participate in testing? That means you're a pure speculator with zero interest in IOTA itself, only a fast profit, in which case: fuck off.

It's the factual answer. If you bought something you don't understand you should not make any claims whatsoever about anything pertaining to it. Then to say that it is 'blackmail' to say that we need to test the software before release is just so mind-numbingly insane that I have to conclude you're a troll.

....BUY NOW!!

*The the process is completed when I receive the BTC payment. At that time you will receive confirmation that you have been added to the list of buyers that will be sent Iotas as soon a CFB gives the green light to do so.

Other general things to take note of and remember:

*think twice before supporting any negative comments concerning the repeated requests for more testers. There is nothing wrong with this. You many not like the delivery, but it is imperative we have as many testers as possible. If you don't have the tech skills to do it, like me, donate to the foundation. Let's just stop giving the devs shit and do anything they request if we can.

**I see people point my out bias towards my very bullish estimates towards how Iota will do after launch. It's pointed out that, sure, I would predict such rises in value because I am selling.

However, in the same references to my bias, notice that none of them disagree with my calculations

Yes, old price was 37000 IOTA = 1 BTC if I recall well.

So now 1 BTC = 111 181 240 000 IOTA ==>   1 BTC  = 111,18 Giga Iota

The old price was 0,022 USD for 1 IOTA (via http://iotawallet.com).

I sold a few batches last month for 3731 sat/old IOTA. Now people are selling for 899 sat/old IOTA. That is 25% lower!  Shocked

Cryptoknight is one of the few people selling, so he can basicly set the price, so why is he selling for so low. Or he does not understand or he did some wrong calculations....
