I think the first matches are always the hardest, you never know how the teams roster shaping up and how they are actually building the new system or continue with the old one, some even changed the coaches and managers etc so it all ends up so different from last year. Put the summer break on top of that and you have players who are starting a new season sometimes out of shape or at least lacking match conditioning and you have team chemistry low for a while and everything can happen.

Even the teams that end up being champions usually starts not so well (usually, not all the time, sometimes they win with 10 straight wins).
