There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

Staking just for you!

Good man!

Schedule update: As far as I know the fixed v3.2 code is finished, but I've got one more test I want to run over the weekend before I upload it on Monday.  I'll set the code I upload to have the fork next weekend.

v3.2.1.0 source code and wallets now available at http://britcoin.xyz

Please upgrade before the weekend.

Still waiting for someone to compile the Mac wallet; stand by on that.

If you compile it yourself, be sure to use bdb 4.8 and not bdb 5+.

Sorry, still waiting on it.  Are you a Mac user?

Looks like the fork block, 1,038,000, will take a little while longer to arrive than expected -- There've been some slow periods since the time I calculated the block number to put into the code, and I've been avoiding bringing some more coins online for staking until the Mac version was ready.

Yeah the chain is synced on my mac so will be a lot less hassle than going from scratch on a new VM. Looking forward to how things go with this, second time lucky Wink

Well it doesn't look like it'll happen today or tomorrow.

1,027,932+(1,440×7) was the formula I used at the time of writing the new mint block into the code, which was last Saturday.

Now I'm on block 1,031,927, so it looks like it'll be 4.25 days away i.e. Wednesday.  1,031,927+(1,440×4.25)

Perhaps I can speed it up by bringing more coins online to stake but I don't want to do that until the Mac wallet's ready.

Unfortunately I get this:

I was on OS X 10.11 El Capitan

I thought maybe I needed to upgrade to the new Sierra, so I did. And I still get the same message.

Damn... reported to MystPhysX.

He said he just tested that the wallet opened and got one connection.  I guess it didn't open for you?

No, it had already vanished from the dock before the error appeared. I think you may have more info from my PM earlier. Happy to help test.

The day given was only an estimate.  It doesn't look like it'll happen today. :8/

Not to sound like some sort of muppet but what exactly is the fork and the benefits etc.
Currently I am staking the wallet which is working a treat.
What actions would I need to do on this fork then..? (windows)

Sorry for the maybe lame question.

You don't really need to do anything :8]

The fork itself is a move to mint 10 million new coins into a certain address, which will be given to a fiat investor (the Daryl mentioned earlier in this thread) who will provide an injection of funds and resources into developing and promoting this coin.  Controversial perhaps, but it seems that development is the most important thing for the value of a coin.
