On top of each post we have two possible infos: the date from the original post and the date from last edit.
Instead of being hidden "inside" the original post info and only shown when we mouseover the original post info, I suggest both info could be visible side by side like this example:
Original post: November 01, 2015, 02:12:45 PM - Last edit: November 11, 2015, 02:43:34 PM
Some users get confused trying to figure out if post is old or if it's been updated recently...
I guess that would be a very simple change in the code.

Well, I guess this wouldn't be a bad change. There was a point in time at which I did not know how to check whether someone edited their post. This could be made as a user-preference in the settings. This is worth suggesting for the new forum, I doubt that we are going to see a change here especially since the beta is open to everyone now.

Lauda, Thanks for pointing out the new forum. I didn't know about it cause I've been away for a while. Gonna check it out. Still my suggestion applies to the new version as well!

Yeah, I definitely agree that this should be the case. Also, perhaps we should keep a record for all the previous edit histories, so that if someone attempts to cover up evidence, we could just dig up the archive?

I guess that would be a reasonable idear, altough it's a two sided sword: I already posted private information once (something that could be used to identify me), and i was very happy that i could just edit the post and remove this info. Maybe it would be sufficient if everybody knew all edits were kept in the database, so if evidence was ever needed, theymos could potentially dig it up.

Edit logs are already kept, though there's no web interface for viewing them, so it's not efficient. The notification could probably be more visible.
I haven't been keeping up with the new software, but the intention was for edit revisions to be visible to those who could edit the post (so OP, mods, admins, etc), though ideally it's customizable. Part of the problem with SMF was they had a very narrow view of what admins/mods/users should be able to do.

IMO only "Original post" and "Last edit" would be enough for public view. Also, perhaps we should keep a record for all the previous edit histories, so that if someone attempts to cover up evidence, we could just dig up the archive? Maybe that's too much, isn't it?

There was a point in time at which I did not know how to check whether someone edited their post.
I only came to know about this "secret trick" about three months ago (this year). I've been here for more than a year since October 2014. I agree that this suggestion should be implanted.

So sad! This profile does not appear as the #1 result (on anonymous) Google searches anymore.

Well, this feature already existed in the new forum AFAIK, but it would be much better if we could see the original post of an edited post.

IMO the current implementation is better (though that one is there in beta ). Showing last edit makes it appear more relevant than it is. I suggest adding a help section specific to bitcointalk.org forum like https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=help or even a wiki
