Is it safe to assume it's a letter?

I'm guessing it's a renown list of sorts, with the letters representing the first letter of the word on the list.

All the information needed to complete the sequence is contained within the letters, you don't need to Google anything, just use your noggin. There is more than one letter required to complete the sequence though. The 26 English alphabet letters are used, not a foreign language.

Yeah - guessed it wouldn't be that easy. Smiley

I looked at the idea of a repeating pattern so simply divided AKMNR into AKMN R and tried to repeat the AKMN pattern starting a R (wrapping around from Z back to A).

Big Hint #2 - The answer wouldn't be different if I used lower case letters instead of upper case, but the clue would only be one letter!

I may not be able to solve it, but I'll happily contribute to crowdsourcing the solution.

Considering the latest clues, visualize from which one of the following is most logical.

Hence showing the lower case letters. The diagonal route was where I was heading next, but nixed the idea after reading the above. I will be sad if the diagonal route proves to supply the answer.

You get a critique of your signature, which says BTC = $c2. Assuming that $ is a place holder for an input value of X dollars, than the units of your answer would be:

bitcoins = X * 89875517873681764 dollars*meters2*seconds-2

I guess I didn't realize that dollars stored kinetic energy...

That would be potential energy, and sure dollars store potential energy! Don't spend enough money on your house and it will fall down.

Now, if you had said: The answer would be more difficult if I used lower case letters...

Then we all would have continue the quest staring at upper case letters.

Imagine the problem uses a magic black box that only outputs letters of a certain criteria:

letters ----->[MAGIC BOX]----> only letters that match criteria

So to make the puzzle, we put two sequences of inputs into the box:
letters A-R:  ----->[MAGIC BOX]----> clue sequence
letters S-Z:  ----->[MAGIC BOX]----> rest of sequence

When the criteria is "typography of letter includes a diagonal line", the outputs are:
letters A-R:  ----->[contains diagonal?]----> clue:{A,K,M,N,R}
letters S-Z:  ----->[contains diagonal?]----> answer:{V,W,X,Y,Z}

If the puzzle was created with lower-case letters however:
letters a-r:  ----->[contains diagonal?]----> clue:{k}
letters s-z:  ----->[contains diagonal?]----> answer:{v,w,x,y,z}

Using lower-case letters, it would be impossible to make a puzzle with the criteria "contains diagonal" that had
 A. a good enough unique answer, i.e., if I asked you to "complete the sequence {z,y,x,w,v}", how would you know the answer is {k}? or
 B. a non-obvious answer ("complete the sequence {k,v,w,x,y}")

Big Hint #2 - The answer wouldn't be different if I used lower case letters instead of upper case, but the clue would only be one letter!

Would you care to explain the above for me, for I read it as if all the letters were put in lower case, the solution would be easier to solve, hence putting all the letters in lower case to visualize a solution.

So to make the puzzle, we put two sequences of inputs into the box:
letters A-R:  ----->[MAGIC BOX]----> clue sequence
letters S-Z:  ----->[MAGIC BOX]----> rest of sequence

When the criteria is "typography of letter includes a diagonal line", the outputs are:
letters A-R:  ----->[contains diagonal?]----> clue:{A,K,M,N,R}
letters S-Z:  ----->[contains diagonal?]----> answer:{V,W,X,Y,Z}

If the puzzle was created with lower-case letters however:
letters a-r:  ----->[contains diagonal?]----> clue:{k}
letters s-z:  ----->[contains diagonal?]----> answer:{v,w,x,y,z}

Look here dick-for-brains, for one us needs glasses...

Note the key word there in yellow. What does it read? Different. Correct! What if I were to say that somebody misread that word as difficult? Would that then make his argument valid? Thought so! But the word is different and not difficult. So I ask you one more time: Which one of us needs glasses? BTW, you're not a dick-for-brains  Grin

I'm going to guess one, albeit in reverse order for it wasn't stipulated.

EDIT: Only off by a prime number multiplied by another prime number.
