Once a transaction has 6 confirmations, it is extremely unlikely that an attacker without at least 50% of the network's computation power would be able to reverse it.

I am using both PayPal and Bitcoin. I need PayPal to pay at places that don't yet accept Bitcoin and when I would like to at least keep my debit card info safe by not inputting it directly on checkout at dubious sites. I do have to admit though that PayPal is great for purchasing things but not for selling as there are dishonest buyers who can take advantage of the PayPal dispute system. I just keep enough money on my PayPal account for my daily shopping and that's it.

i am sure if i think real hard or look around i can find my old paypal account and i might even have some money there too, but i stopped using them a long time ago even before i started using bitcoin.

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip.
Whales are those who keep buying the dip.

yeah, I still have my paypal account. I don't like it though.
unfortunately we are not at the mass adoption stage yet and there are still many places and services that don't use bitcoin yet. so we are all forced to use alternative ways for sending or receiving payments from those services.
but as I have said in the other linked topic, I don't like paypal at all, and I would prefer bitcoin over it any day without a hesitation.

I have a paypal account and still use it for convenience with some online purchases.  I haven't bought anything with bitcoin yet, in part because I view it as an investment, and part because I don't want to deal with the tax aspect yet.  I just have been buying and stacking bitcoins, and occasionally trading a small amount for a few alts.

Yes I have both, simply because of geographical locations,
The only way I can use my bitcoins in local stores is by converting them to PayPal
So I happen to want both coz I use them concurrently.

I'm reading through the thread and I see a lot of people saying that they haven't used their PayPal in ages. I would be curious to know what you guys use instead for online purchases and to receive money. Do you use your credit/debit cards directly or some other payment gateway? Personally I can't imagine not using my PayPal, buying and selling would be a whole lot less efficient without it.

how dare you worrying about tax aspect when you use bitcoin which is taxfree rather than paypal ,paypal do get you taxed a ton by using their service, such a silly comparation

Yep! I used Paypal mainly for online purchases, like when i ordered a case and screen protector for my phone. Paypal is easy to use when buying things on the internet but the withdrawal and some processes take too long as they require strict security for their users , well i can't be angry with that. Paypal also have buyer protection in which people can do refund if their purchased items are in a not good condition. In total, there is also a pros and cons when using paypal , vice versa with bitcoin.

ofc that i have a paypal account, why i would not have it? for just one simply reason, for me is still util, i mean that i can use it on many many merchants, thats exactly what bitcoin does not have ( well at least one of them ) but do not doubt that things will change soon, and if you give me the opportunity, i would use bitcoin instead paypal.

Agree with you. Since there are limited site for online purchases using bitcoin, I'm also using paypal in ordering some stuffs. As of now I find it easier to buy online using paypal but I would love to use bitcoin too in my future purchases. On the other hand, what I love in bitcoin is that it's more convenient in terms of withdrawal, just like what you've noticed. Smiley

yes I do have a paypal account, even tho I have ever barely used it. I got it just to recieve some payments, nothing big, and also to pay in some places where it would be too annoying to use a transaction or a credit card.
Wait, I actually used it a lot, I remember I have bought a lot of times on ebay, which means I used Paypal every time.

I still have a Paypal account and I don't see myself closing it unless Bitcoin is accepted everywhere Paypal is accepted.
Paypal definitely has a leg up on Bitcoin since it's accepted by way more merchants than Bitcoin is. And I don't think this will change soon.

Exactly, majority of people use Paypal only beacuse it is widely accepted and it enjoys the monopoly when it comes to online shopping and every knows it.

When you're doing business online, it's a necessity. Plus with the recent advent of bitcoin debit cards, you can link those two together. You can now purchase via PP using your BTCBTCBTC.

Not only paypal ,also solidtrustpay and perfectmoney there are still some people who prefer to get payment or be send a gift via paypal and we should not confined ourselves to one payment processor
