I have been deceived by others about Bitcoin, that is, someone in the wallet will send you coins with an address you often use, and then you will mistakenly think that this familiar address is your own, but in fact that address is not yours at all. The letters are very similar, but still different.

That's quite funny as i have never ever lost any satoshi in my wallet ever but on the side, many many times have lost alts and forgotten where i stored them. Bitcoin losses are not affordable but for now, i think many of us are already holding or bearing the loss situations in bitcoin. But its worth waiting and maybe it won't last soon. Cycle moves keep in mind.

Losing bitcoin could've happened with every user atleast once.
But I think this is very rare, whether through hacking or something else. but I'm sure this will be very impossible to happen if someone really keeps their assets in the safest point, and if this happens that someone loses Bitcoin this could be caused by fraud, I think this is very rare. and unless you are affected by platforms whose certainty is very unclear.

So far I have never lost any satoshi that I have stored well, Be it Bitcoin or Altcoin, the key is only one, you have to save it very well and remember the password of a Wallet, very simple way But very valuable. guaranteed safe. maybe what often happens is losing Bitcoin satoshis, or this Altcoin happens because of an error in a transaction, and forgetting to save it in which Wallet.

Luckily I didn't lose my bitcoins. I won't click on links from strangers. Every time I send to the other party's address, I will check both sides and confirm to the other party whether it is correct. I think you need to be serious and careful with money. Otherwise your money may be cheated by others. The scammers are now highly skilled. Don't trust the words of strangers easily.

The amount is not important, but I can say that I lost a very valuable amount of money for me. People experience them. You learn to win as you lose.

Well explained. I mean people learn from their mistakes only. I have also lost some of my Bitcoins, actually I didn’t remember the exact amount but, around 4-5 years ago, I remember when I was transferring a little amount of Bitcoins to localbitcoins account, I sent it to wrong address. My pc was probably infected for which I made this mistake. I copied the address and pasted it, but at the time of pasting, the address got slightly changed due to the malware and I lost my BTC after I sent them. Now everytime I make a transaction, I thoroughly check the address.

You lost it through your own fault, which means you can't get it back unless the recipient is very wholesome, in which case he or she will return it, but mostly not, so it was lost and gone forever in your wallet. That is why you should double check it before sending it, but my question is: why are you mistakenly sending it to the wrong address? Do you type or write the address and don't copy and paste it? or you just sent it while you were drunk? since it is difficult to send it to an address that you don't own.

Yeah I've lost money and in a very sick way which I always have regret everytime I remember it.
Crypto generally is a very risky business and this I've come to attest to in a very hard way and I guess one if the things that contributed to my failure was the fact that I didn't take my time to learn the necessary does and don't of crypto before jumping into it and that took a big turn on me and I hard to pay with hard earned money.
I lost over $200 and then the money was intended for my rent and the lost had a very great impact on me but it gave me the courage to follow up more now.

How, and how much did you manage to lose?

Oh yeah. I have lost a lot. I am not sure how much but when I first got into Bitcoin, I was sending back and forth between a couple of my own wallets to learn how it works and I lost like $10 worth which is like .1 BTC or something. I have also lost some by locking myself out of paper wallets using the BIP 38 encryption.

I have learned all of my lessons and now I know that the best way is to keep things simple and have lots of backups. Experiment with small amounts and don't do anything stupid like messing with lots of complexity.

Keep it simple until you have a larger stack and really know what you're doing.

I don't really know how much I have lost but I do remember losing Bitcoin or crypto because of losing my private key.
If we would also consider the amount that has been lost due to scam then there would be huge amount for it.
I hate to recall those memories but they are part of the past and they are the best lesson that I've had.
Because of those event I learn some valuable lesson to always save your private keys and don't easily trust any investment.

My wife threw away an SSD that contained 1.2 bitcoins.  She thought it was damaged. I was aware of this when I tried to cash out my btc in September 2017.

I haven't run into scammers, but I have had the wrong payment address and lost my bitcoins forever. But luckily I know where my bitcoins are. My current storage method is a hardware wallet, although my wallet is getting smaller and smaller.

I feel that as long as I enter the currency circle, I have lost a little money. My memory has always been bad, but I forgot to write down the mnemonic and address when updating my phone, so that all my assets are gone. It makes me feel sad.

I don’t have the worry of being afraid of losing at all, not just because I have to be cautious about money, mainly because I can’t buy bitcoins yet, so scammers won’t come to cheat my assets.

Most of the friends around me were cheated out of Bitcoin by scammers. When my friend transferred the address, he was familiar with a few letters, so he was not suspicious, and then the coins did not arrive on time before he realized it.

It mustn't be Bitcoin at all times at time paper fiat currencies are lost and you can't forgive your self for being so careless.

Since it's something of value to everyone it is sure going to hurt the person it's almost as someone lossing his family friend.
I loss some though but alot of Bitcoin has also been lost to exchanges lately both long term holders and pensioners and holiday planners
That alone shouldn't sound good, have you also lost any of your bitcoin share yours

I lost a lot of bitcoin when exchanged closed many years ago. Also I did loose some private keys, because keeping private keys was much more complicated a few years ago.

Most of the friends around me were cheated out of Bitcoin by scammers. When my friend transferred the address, he was familiar with a few letters, so he was not suspicious, and then the coins did not arrive on time before he realized it.

Can you explain more how this scam happened and how much your friend lost?

Bitcoin scam is common in today's space and I'm usually used to it and able to detect the scammed coins in the market. The entire market is all about information and getting the recommendable tools for projects available. Losing bitcoin to scammers presently is either a big mistake or ignorant of the right information, so I blamed the victims for not gathering solid information and also their greediness will lead them to been victims of malicious scammed projects in the space.

just like you I have also lost altcoins in my wallet, as far as I remember that incident was in 2017 when the token token airdrop boom, At that time I had some ETH and various kinds of tokens in my wallet, for some reason suddenly eth and tokens could switch to another wallet in a matter of seconds, I guess because I clicked on a phissing site link while taking part in the airdrop and that's a bitter memory that served as a lesson for me.

if I lose btc, I have never experienced it because I keep btc on a different tablet/laptop so I never open the computer on other sites except to only see btc price movements in trusted markets like binance.

indeed to prevent this by storing btc in a wallet that we have the key and never trust third parties such as exchange.

How, and how much did you manage to lose?

Well no, nobody has ever lost Bitcoins before. They may have had them stolen or they lost their key, but lost? Nope. Those coins are exactly where they were put last. Tongue And before you ask, yes, I have lost a key before but the amount of coin was very negligible. So suffice it to say, I have lost maybe... 200 USD worth in Bitcoin which would be worth around 2k or more at today's price.

Lesson learned: do not lose keys.
