Sorry if this questions had already been asked but I couldnt find it using the search option; Does my wallet need to stay open in order for the snapshots to take place or can I credit my account with NXT and leave them there for months without opening the wallet on my PC. I am also curious if need to have my NXT in my account on the the 12th of October in order to receive my NXT or is it possible withdraw lets say 1 month before.

Hi, no problem for asking
If you hold nxt in your account you will get the ardor automatically as a bonus connected to your account in the form of an asset as ardor  (which will be freely tradeable after the snapshots)

In the nxt client and the web wallet you see (ever 60blocks snapshot and total is based on average nxt holding during the snapshots months) how many ardor you have now and supposed to get after the snapshots (ardor distribution).

So If you sell your nxt before the end of the snapshots you will not get more ardor, but will receive the ardor that is already snapshotted.

With nxt holding you are able to stake/mine transaction fees. And when ardor launches in q3 2017 there will be a snapshot for the 1st childchain tokens which you receive as a bonus based on your nxt holdings.

Your NXT will not go anywhere.

The initial distribution of ARDR goes to users holding NXT during the snapshot period. Once it ends, every account that held some NXT during these months will receive the amount of ARDR assets it earned in the snapshots. So after that, you'll have both NXT and ARDR.

Then ARDR will be tradable in the Nxt Asset Exchange and in the third party exchanges that add it, and this market will continue as end of development and Ardor test net happen. Then, next year a final one-time snapshot of the Nxt blockchain will happen when Ardor launches, and the main chain Ardor tokens will be given according to the ARDR asset distribution at that moment. There will be also another one-time snapshot of NXT balances at that moment, and users will receive also an amount of the first Ardor child chain token (name currently being discussed) based on their NXT balance.

And NXT (1.0) stays there with its own roadmap, so by holding NXT now you get ARDR, the first hardcoded Ardor child chain token, and you keep your NXT.

It should be immediately available to trade on the Nxt Asset Exchange on October 12 hardfork. Everyone will be a market maker and can put the sell order for whichever price they believe it is worth. The free market will discover the right price very quickly as it always does. Centralized exchanges will list it too. We absolutely can and must rely on the free market, this is crypto.

As Ardor is, in fact, NXT 2.0, I believe after Oct. 10 or 12, whichever the precise date, will take as value whatever the price of NXT is at the time while the price of NXT will plummet to whatever value the market gives to 0.5:1 of FNX.

That said, I believe the value of Ardor -and NXT before Oct 10-12-, will get to close or above 10k sat.

Ardor will be more worth, but the rest you are saying is not true.

You are talking about the 1st childchain token and not ARDR, where half of it will be used for development and innovation purposes.
But even this is not written down in a contract, because it won't be necessary if the Nxt Foundation gets enough funds before that date and they are working hard on that.

So if they get enough fundings, than NXT holders will receive 1:1 for the 1st childchain token too and keep their NXT aside it.

So its my understanding anyone who has nxt on the sale book will not receive ardor?

Looking at purchasing roughly 70k NXT tokens and I just setup my 1GHs Ethereum farm to mine to a ShapeShift wallet that auto converts ETH to NXT to reach my goal of 100k NXT coins.

This project solves all the problems I feel ETH and other platforms have and adds functionality on top....The fact that Barclays is holding out to see what the Smart Contract/Blockchain world has to offer, makes me think that they don't think that ETH is the be all end all. They mention that competition is a good thing, and this definitely proves that to me. I can see major companies adopting the NXT 2.0 system and I want to be a part of that...

I can't wait to see what the next few months have it store...
