ABC News is reporting WalMart's already selling Bitcoin cards. WTF? Are these them?

Saying that you don't trust someone because of their behavior is completely valid.

I want to resell them. But I will only accept cash, locally. But my volume is going to be small. And I will have a computer station on standby with internet access so that people can redeem their bitcoins on the spot (or I do it for them.)

They pay me cash, they get bitcoins, plus I get all the fees in between. I can even do this part time. I sent an email, hopefully they don't disregard small time resellers.

Works perfect for a local transactions and accepting cash def.   I was just pointing out some poor soul is going to set up a website and have people buy these in exchange/scammed for bitcoin over the internet and the OP sounds perfectly fine with it because they say the "seller" knows the risks.  And don't worry they will reply to your PM they did with mine.

What rate or exchange do you use at the time of redemption? Mt Gox? BitFloor? Also, what exact parameters? Is it like, ask price, bid price, spot price, last price, volume weighted?

Who are the current resellers now?

I think this is one way to buy bitcoins using credit cards world wide.

we are using bitstamp, we looked at mtgox but bitstamp is simple better for as as a whole package. We use last price at the time of redeem minus fees that apply.

question...

1) how do you plan on dealing with fraud, i see you pass on that problem to your re-sellers, is it something they are aware of?

2) if i buy the 100$ card today, and redeem it 10 days from now ( lets say bitcoin droped to 50$ by then ) would i get 2 bitcoin - some FEE??

I hope that resellers are aware that they are selling a stored-value card that once redeemed cannot be revoked.

I would also like to know if there is a conversion fee upon redeeming the card. The 2.99 fee is actually competitive to doing moneypak trades with individuals, so i'm hoping that there is no other fees.

^^ In other words, don't sell for $$ and send/sell Bitcoins in exchange. We are back to square one when it comes to buying bitcoins! as clearly this won't work Sad ^^

I mean don't get me wrong this is great for scammers and the fraudsters! they will rape you for everything you got! Grin
The cards would be fine as long as they are physically purchased... i.e., inside a Walmart where they can be activated.  I would never attempt to sell them online without physically shipping something though.

LOL, more than likely the reporter just got BitInstant's method of buying Bitcoins mixed up with

But seriously, they should consider it.  All one would have to do is point to the thousands (perhaps tens of thousands) of users still waiting to buy Bitcoins through BitInstant, MtGox, Coinbase, etc.  It is almost impossible to buy Bitcoins right now for someone just now getting in...

Anybody not on Localbitcoins already needs to get listed, pronto. There should be at least 1 user within 1 hour driving distance, everywhere.

inquiries are sent to exchanges and coinbase...I wonder which ones will reply. It could be so easy to load your wallet with giftcoins...if no positive feedback we will have to make our own wallet then Smiley

Let us say that I'm buying a 100 dollar card and will redeem it when bitcoin is trading at 10 dollars. How much do I pay when buying the card and how many bitcoins do I get when I redeem?

You buy the card at $100. Or $109 from that first reseller. You get 10 bitcoins when you redeem it.

I'm pretty sure ABC's reporting here is inaccurate.  A search for "bitcoin" on walmart.com does not reveal any products (except several near-misses for media products with "bitchin" in the title).

If all the sovereign non-cryptocurrencies will eventually collapse from hyperinflation, you can't afford *not* to invest in Bitcoin...  See my blog at http://minetopics.blogspot.com/ .

Let us say that I'm buying a 100 dollar card and will redeem it when bitcoin is trading at 10 dollars. How much do I pay when buying the card and how many bitcoins do I get when I redeem?

you would get 8.8BTC, how much you would paid that card depends only on reseller

Ouch.

I'm pretty sure ABC's reporting here is inaccurate.  A search for "bitcoin" on walmart.com does not reveal any products (except several near-misses for media products with "bitchin" in the title).

To make sure, I stopped by my local Wal-Mart today.  No Bitcoin cards (yet).  Although maybe the ABC News story will cause lots of people to stop by Walmart asking for Bitcoin cards, which will cause them to order some of OP's cards....  Cheesy

If all the sovereign non-cryptocurrencies will eventually collapse from hyperinflation, you can't afford *not* to invest in Bitcoin...  See my blog at http://minetopics.blogspot.com/ .

Ok I'm dying to order physical bitcoin gift cards but I can only seem to find digital ones on the website. Is there a different link or did I check the wrong box on the order form? Thanks

Also I got my original order redeemed online and was very impressed with the customer service.

the news story of walmart selling gift cards was alot of misunderstandings and no research on the part of the media.

the mis understanding is this.

you can go to walmart with cash. and visit the zipzap/moneygram cashier desk. transfer cash to bitinstant. then use the receipt to go online at bitinstant to buy bitcoins.

so the media must have read somewhere that you can get bitcoins at walmart. where they totally missed out the HOW

I DO NOT TRADE OR ACT AS ESCROW ON THIS FORUM EVER.
Please do your own research & respect what is written here as both opinion & information gleaned from experience. many people replying with insults but no on-topic content substance, automatically are 'facepalmed' and yawned at
