Danger when buying/selling BTC in person

I'm always using a person for selling my bitcoin, and until this time I never get any problem from there, I know the risk is always there. but if you worried about using personal service to buying and selling bitcoin better for you to using an exchange it's will more giving guarantee for you, because using online escrow.

That is the best way to secure the transaction by using escrow if it is online selling or buying but if without escrow i think it is hard in the both parties because it is hard to give trust to anybody you do not know who is it. and also it is good to sell/buy bitcoin in offline means the buyer of bitcoin is the one who give money to seller then seller will send bitcoin at that moment.

Thats a sad news. i experienced buying bitcoins in person and it went smooth, we agreed to meet in a public area and i ask my friend to come along just to make sure if something happens. when dealing with strangers you should be extra careful to avoid just like that incident.

Is much better to use escrow than to buy it in person , it's danger because they know you have money to be rubbed. I'm not use to buy to any people personally but I'll buy online is much easy if you know what to do and do buy carefully.

Only sell to people you can trust when the amount is already really high. What do you expect from the random people you transact with online? Some of them might be criminals looking for their next prey. We have a lot of those on the bitcoin scene.

Only sell to people you can trust when the amount is already really high. What do you expect from the random people you transact with online? Some of them might be criminals looking for their next prey. We have a lot of those on the bitcoin scene.

you don't necessarily need to find a fully trusted person to sell your bitcoins face to face, cause it is not possible to find such person on the internet.
instead just use a safer place to do the transaction. you can do it at a police station even. they actually let you do that in the US. or you can do it in a bank, take the cash and deposit it in your account right then and there.

Actually i prefer buying or selling Btc in person it is more secure(for me in my opinion) you just have to set precautions
and the find a meeting place that has a lot of people to prevent some dangers that you might encounter
while buying/selling Btc. buying and online is recommended too since it is a lot safer than person to person
but some problem still may emerge buying/selling online.

I don't sell my coins in person, I do everything online and I never had problems. I askes around and few people recommended me this guy that selling/buying bitcoins, he have positive trust on several places and he work with many people.
I believe people who work with big money are more exposed, and more tempting for people without money. Big money attract bad people, and everyone with large sum's need to make sure to have extra protection when they plan to see/buy coins or anything else.
There is many examples how to stay safe no matter do you plan to do it online or offline, extra informing is a good thing when big money is involved in the game, don't be lazy to check which one is best way to do the trade.

In the United States, some police stations have a special meeting area set up for people who sell items online, eBay etc to meet at the police station.
Its a secure area with cameras and the police know people are meeting there to buy and sell goods.
If I was going to sell $28,000 worth of BTC I would want to meet in a place like this.

not everybody lives in the US. and it is not really needed to do the trade at a police station, any public place will do. or at least when you are trading $28,000 worth of bitcoin you can bring someone with you to act as your bodyguard .

Its always danger with a lot of money, or at least with things that worth a lot. I don't know about this guy in Florida, but to "go out to meet with 2 guys, and you are alone with 28 000 dollars in the pocket" stop, stop ..I would go with several friends, or at least I would pay for someone to protect me. What did he think before he get out to meet with them? I think he is lucky that he didn't get shot.

I`m selling my coins online, without any worries. I work with this guy over 6 months, one member from here that is from my country recommended this guy and he is really trustworthy person, its always easy to make deals with him.

i never buy bitcoin from person that i really not know who is he/she and i am not yet trust him/her. actually, if i want to buy from one person, i must know who is he/she, i must trust him/her first before i make a deal. i don't have bad experience with this, because i am not yet buy bitcoin from person that i don't know.

I think for sellers and buyers of different countries will be a little difficult if have to meet in a public place. I personally put forward using an escrow service that is already trusted. thank you

When it comes to people, there is no such thing as 100% trust. However trusting an online exchange also involves substantial risk. So I think the risk associated with p2p exchanges should not be overstated. After all, it is the most privacy friendly form of transaction.

Generally, going to a crowded place, preferably a Bitcoin meetup, will greatly reduce your risk. Trading only small quantities (less than $500 at a time) is also a good advice.

In addition I think one should also pay close attention to various aspects of the communication with the potential seller/buyer. Language use and reliability of contact are some indicators that may aid to avoid risky transactions.

To buy btc in bulk amount is a very tedious task through any platform .
it is full of risk and full of scare .
when i was newbies in bitcoin world currency then i was always scared that if anyone scammed me that what will happen with me .
so about 1 year i had not bought btc ffom anyone .
but after one year a person found by me.in this forum . he said that he is trader then i told him that i want buy some btc about 0.1 btc when i paid him then he blocked me at whatsapp and no answer of all call .
overall he was scammer .
then finally i decided to bought btc through Escrow . this is best option to buy and sell .
and i will also suggest you to buy btc through escrow  atleast in case of 28000$ of btc.

I have never bought any bitcoins by meeting a person and I don't plan on, I find that an online exchange is alot safer and you are likely to get a good rate. With sites like localbitcoins and paxful, you can even pay with gift cards so I don't see the need to meet people any more.
