if a person wants to register his own account he has to wait in line who are to be approved. if he can't wait, he can always buy. but then again, the bought account can possibly be tagged - thats the catch.

Looks like someone is trying to earn that sig. money? theymos could easily identify/control farmed accounts. Much easier than me.
I concur. A fair amount of these accounts could be easily detected, and it's quite trivial to handle them. Either just ban them all or wipe them from the database. I have found hundreds more not-yet-published farmed accounts. theymos will have seen those accounts too.
Now imagine how many more accounts there are that you have not found. More and more genuine people are leaving this place due to this very inaction. We could run this discussion infinitely though.

Maybe a decline in account farmers would also mean a decreased payout for signature campaigns, or even fewer campaigns in general - which would probably be good.
I doubt if that would be the case. If there is a decline in account farmers, my guess is that you would have signature campaigns paying higher for the remaining participants. Sites would anyway discount alt traffic when they take into account whether they want to advertise here or not.

I agree with botany, campaign owners will be willing to increase pay to make active campaigners to switch to another campaign because of the higher pay and with higher pay, this would also force the campaigners to make sure their posts meets the quality standards to avoid being kicked out of the campaign or posts not being counted.

Well, in either case then the result would only be positive for the community as a whole. It would be best to remove the account farmers and add units of evil to their IPs. This would also affect the account-trading market - the farmed accounts that were sold would also be banned and thus a slew of others would fall as well. Now unfortunately, there is no way to prove that you were sold an account due to the fact that one could simply sign a message indicating a past date for the trading of an account.
Could it ever be possible to sort of "nuke" a non-newbie's posts, but keep them unbanned? (Or have something where if all of your posts are in Games & Rounds, you gain no activity) This would harm account farmers and keep the main accounts of those who bought accounts safe. I'm purely thinking of ways to impact only the worst offenders, though I don't condone account trading either.

It's all about the quest to farm sig money. Some of the amounts of money available are veeeerrrrryyyy appealing to people from countries like China (which you've already identified as a prolific country for account farmers). Luckily you can usually filter these kinds of people out through their quality of written English being extremely poor and their posts generally being off-topic and short. Patrol should get some of their posts but really, and I said this years ago too, account farming and spamming will stop when sig campaign managers become more selective. I see some are now taking a harder approach to poor English and spammy posts but not all do.

Big 5 spamming countries: Russia, Philippines, China, Indonesia, Turkey. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php See their post counts in local board.

It is from your trust: " User actively encouraging the creation of 10,000 + BCT UID's to scam other users in the guise of promoting a product or service. http://archive.is/lofp2#selection-5195.0-5227.465" Now you can get out.
