USD really is being used for illegal activities but rather I will say that money is being used for illegal activities. You cannot say that only USD is being used for illegal activities because all currency can be used to buy illegal things and do illegal acts, all can be used in bribing and in doing bad deeds after all money is the root of all evil. Yes money is the root of evil as we all know because of the illegal things that human being made but i can say not all the time because if theres no money we wontt survive it does really depend on the person on how he gonna use it ans yes usd can be used on illegal stuffs and all currency since we do know that it has value and people will recognize it.

That is the reason why they are trying to ban the high denomination banknotes, such as the €500 and €200 notes. But then again, if that was the case, then why the CHF 1,000 note is not being used for illegal transactions in a big way?

Also the US Dollar is the most used in crimes simply because is the most accepted currency worldwide, so criminals prefer to use it since it is easier to convert it to their local currencies so they can make use of that money or they can use the dollars directly since as I have said they can use it all around the world for nefarious purposes.

I've never heard of someone being held kidnap that requesting bitcoin as ransom. Bitcoins are most likely being used in illegal ways on Deepweb such as buying drugs, guns, etc. But regarding about killing and kidnapping there, it mostly not being requested due to high payment required for those kind of things. And maybe scamming too. By the way, i think if bitcoin has been used on illegal ways then it reflect too on USD in such a way that they're exchanging bitcoin into fiat money.

The illegal activities using Bitcoins do it because it's easier to cheat the law forces, as it's decentralized and not controled by anyone. But surely after they finish their illegal deals, they convert the BTCs to dollar, as they need fiat to buy most things on the world. Bitcoin is a good "middleman" for the thieves, that is unfortunatelly true... On the another hand Bitcoin helps honest people a lot also.

If the crime that you've committed gives you dollars, then you've probably did the crime in a USD based country. It will raise suspicious if you move to another place with all these money all of a sudden. Some agency will ask you how did you get all these money and can even become a case of money laundering. That's why it will be much better for you to use the money in the place/country where you got it. Or just convert it to bitcoins first, and no one will know.

i think we can not blame USD because any currency can be used for illegal or legal activity we can blame it because it all depend on people if we are positive we should be use our money for legal and if we are negative then we will be use it for illegal activity.

The point is that many people accuse Bitcoin of harbouring illegal activity, while the US dollar is used for even more illegal activity than Bitcoin is, especially since it's very hard to stay anonymous with Bitcoin unless you know what you're doing.

You can't say that USD directly is used on illegal activities because there are a lot of people who are doing these illegal activities and it is done in every countries, we all know that countries has their own currency and not just USD. I guess whatever it is as long as bad people saw things as exploitable and can be used to do their illegal things, they will use it.  Regardless of what kind of currency, digital or physical, if they can take advantage of it and use it to buy them illegal stuff, they will use it and USD is no exemption.

That is the nature of humankind, many individuals tend to not care about other human beings and they steal or exploit them or the goverment.

In every country, there are organized crime gangs or at least a criminal group doing financial frauds.
It means that questions like " is xxx curency used for illegal activities" doesn't make sense, every currency and most of cryptocurrencies have been used to pay for e.g drugs, guns, website break-in or anything you want.

Im glad you mentioned about Pablo Escobar, and you are totally right. He had most of his power because of so many USD stashed everywhere.
However he didn't need a lot of local currency, his people just paid with dollars.

Imagine the group of people doing crimes but stashing money in bitcoin, that would be insane!
