You are apparantly not the only one with trouble:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1525451.0

It seems like they have been selling alot of broken s9's and do not replace them, which is insane. The issue is that the cooling doesn't work that great, so u might want to place an extra fan on the other working ones.

I've seen many of these storys, they all tell the same thing: bitmain's customer service isn't good (at all).

https://cse.google.com/cse?cx=016660200577587308545%3Aesf40ml9aag&ie=UTF-8&q=bitmain+warranty&sa=Google+search#gsc.tab=0&gsc.q=bitmain%20warranty&gsc.page=1

The thing is: they don't seem to care about these threads, they kinda have a monopoly on asics, since their products have the best hashrate to power draw ratio on the market, they seem to think they can get away with this lousy service.

same story with my S9 B13
I ordered 7 S-s, 5of them are working great, some temperature issues, but still they are all good. Only two of them has dead boards I guess, the strange thing is that on freq 300 all three boards on those two miners are working great, but when I try to change freq on above 500 only two boards are working on those miners, now I'm thinking to replace boards to run only on of those two and send two "dead boards to warranty till I have their support.

Yeah  seems that when sending gear to China  a lot of rejected claims  then if you bitch and moan  they give the replacement.

Reminds me of Ebay and paypal.  I had a long term account with 1000's of buys and sales still have it.  I would put in a claim 2 or 3 times a year  and it would be a clean perfectly good claim.  They would reject it then you file an appeal and you get the claim.  I think this is what is happening with bitmaintech  they reject it hoping you give up  you fight back and they give the claim.

This is my ebay account pretty much spotless and over 10 years old. I kind of stopped selling on ebay since it became very buyer friendly thus allowing a lot of false claims.

Proud to say I am 6 and 0 in chargebacks  every one some fucking thief tried on me was decided in my favor.  I stopped selling when I realized I was very lucky to have won those decisions. I mostly sold stamps, bullion, computers and audio.

In China things work differently.  Signing a contract is "just the beginning of the business relationship" and  "everything is negotiable".  You should be honored to buy a Chinese product, it is a privilege.  But of course, its always buyer beware.

In the USA, we hold to the rule of law.  You signed a shitty contract?  Too bad.  Honor it or go down in flames.  And the customer is always right, and can return anything anytime.

So the Chinese rejecting a warranty claim right away is par for the course.  After all, a lot of claims are a result of user error/stupidity and they hope you just go away, and better luck next time.  For some reason, in China it seems like blatant lies and scams are frowned upon, but getting the better end of the deal due to circumstances and a little fudge here and there is perfectly acceptable.  (which in capitalism, has some similarities to that also)

Personally I learned to fight with "support" a long time ago.  If you have the facts to back you up, and you are persistent, it can work out for you in the end.

With the Chinese its ALWAYS CYA, CYA, CYA!

I purchased an Avalon 2 off eBay just to see if it was a viable product when they first came out and were being made by all kinds of fly-by-night shops using reference designs and raw chips (I was running 16 Antminer S1s, and just wanted to see if the new Avalon chip was any good).  Fortunately I paid with Paypal, just to see.

When the DHL box finally arrived, you could hear a big "clunk" when you would change box orientations.  Ugh.  Opened it up and found half the modules and stripped from their mountings and were flying around lose within the case.  One of the ribbon cables had been sheared through by a massive heatsink, and the interior was a mess.  Had to order a new ribbon cable, tape up some other wires, put everything back together and fortunately it actually worked!  But it was a dual-PSU monster that I could tell from the beginning was a failed design.  After only running for just a couple weeks I got a phone call from the wife saying the smoke alarm was going off and my garage is full of haze and smells like burnt electrical!  Sure enough, dead Avalon 2!  Opened that case with eBay/Paypal ASAP, and made sure to play my cards right.  Of course the seller first started out with "well it must be your PSU!"  But since I had 16 other working Antminers on PSUs I knew that was not the problem, and had already fixed their shitty miner once.  Seller promised up and down that "just cancel the case, ship it back to me, and we will fix it."  I told them no way I would cancel my case, as then I knew I would instantly be out a few thousand $!  Finally eBay let me take it to a "computer repair shop" where I promptly described the problem, told them what I did to attempt to revive it, then said "You can try your best to fix it, but don't waste your time, I just need a letter stating these are not consumer or shop repairable".  Best $60 letter I ever bought! Paypal found the case in my favor and I got my money back.  Of course I had to ship the POS back to some random address in China, which I did via USPS for $100 or so.  But not before I got a Chinese sob story about how "he has had too many returns and this is causing him problems with is eBay and PayPal accounts and they are now frozen!"  WHAA! Icing on the cake was all of a sudden 3 months later, after I put this all behind me, I get a the SAME Avalon 2 back in the mail, but with about 10x more stamps/labels, and this time completely destroyed!  Like not a single part was still mounted, case dented, holes in cardboard box, everything!  I guess they couldn't find the return location or it had been rejected, but fuck them because I returned it in the same shitty packaging they sent it to me in!

TL;DR:  Fuck Chinese business practices.

/rant ...  sorry I guess that just got me a bit worked up remembering that whole fiasco!  Anyway, at least bitmain isn't THAT bad!

Dear customer,

It is a notification that your hash board has been repaired. No worries.
We will send the tracking number to you later.

Yours respectfully,
Quentin

they first told me that the hhasboard is beyond repair and they were going to trash it !
After whining and threatening they fixed it !

So their scam is this : they get a ton of dead hasboards back, they tell people they are beyond repair and they are going to trash the hasboard.Secretely, they repair them and use them for themselves once again or even sell them in brand new S9's! SCAM IN PROGRESS

Nice tricks BITMAIN !

Yes, many people receives a bad antminer when they order. When you pay for working antminer from this company, they must give you working product. As I know and also in my country, warranty rules is that if I buy electronic product, seller company is lawfully bound to replace damaged product if you discover technical issue in this product from receiving in 5 days. If you didn't discover anything in 5 days and after that there was issue in your product, than they are only able to repair it until there is warranty.

Folks please do be aware that for virtually all goods from most companies I have worked with, warranty service from the OEM (in this case, Bitmain) does NOT necessarily mean sending a new replacement part if the defective one cannot be quickly repaired and the OEM's are under no obligation to do so.

Standard practice is to send 'reconditioned' boards or parts meaning they are from previous repairs/returns. They all should still carry some sort of warranty as replacement parts. If a company has the resources (parts stock) to actually send a new board, great. Just don't expect that from all manufacturers.

We don't need pm for this, I'll write it here. The country which I mean is georgia, it's country where BitFury Group created biggest bitcoin mining datacenter in Georgia, Tbilisi. They put 100 Million USD to build datanceter in 18 Hectare. In this country companies which sells electronic products such as pc, mobile phone and etc. has warranty terms like I wrote in my previous post.
I hope you already knowed about BitFury's project in georgia and I am glad if information given below will help you and your knowledge.

If your in the US and worried about warranty you really should check out https://bitmainwarranty.com .  You will notice that they are ones answering in this thread.  You save money on initial purchase going direct from China site.   For some I really suggest checking out Bitmain Warranty and think of that extra up front as getting you a piece of mind.

For shippment Tracking Number I use EMS.    Their shipping  form number are also tracking  number. So I write in field traking number before shipping.
